 Scientists and explorers have known of the Richat Structure, the Eye of the Sahara, for nearly a century. But those early explorers in the late nineteen thirties, had no idea of the shape, for from the ground, it is just too massive too understand.
It was in 2005 that an astronaut on a spacewalk, the first to see the thing in such detail, brought real attention to it. It was not just a patch of rocks in the Sahara. It was a series of concentric circles some forty kilometers in diameter, or about twenty-five miles.
The question became, "What is it?" or, "Is it dangerous to the locale, or to the world?" and of course, "How will we know?"
No one cared. But there is one intrepid explorer that is not only willing to go see, but she will also pay for the entire expedition. Yes, made of money, but for the Sahara Desert, she is worth far more than she realizes.
