Story
We live in a world of seeds. From our morning toast to the cotton in our clothes, they are quite literally the stuff and staff of life, supporting diets, economies, and civilizations around the globe. Just as the search for nutmeg and the humble peppercorn drove the Age of Discovery, so did coffee beans help fuel the Enlightenment and cottonseed help spark the Industrial Revolution. And from the fall of Rome to the Arab Spring, the fate of nations continues to hinge on the seeds of a Middle Eastern grass known as wheat.

There are a range of topics discussed in detail, including important tips and techniques like, tips for taking care of your container gardner from planting to harvest and the natural ways to get rid of garden pests and diseases that we all need to know.

Great guidance!
I've always wanted to learn how to grow a thriving garden but I've limited with space as I live in an urban hub without a yard. So this guide was so eye-opening and fun for me to listen to. It inspired lots of ideas and also walks through specifically how you can start growing various plants and foods easily from your own indoor space! It was helpful to learn about all of the considerations and how to make the best choices for my space and based on the plant. Overall a very helpful guide

Get Back to Your Roots!
"I don't think this is simply a trend-I personally think we are simply going back to our roots."
I couldn't have said it better. The idea of starting our own gardens and growing our own food is, well, written in our ancestry and it's as normal as breathing. We've gotten away from it, but there is an "instinct" to get back to it.
But! It can feel daunting! So how do we get started in a way that doesn't feel like a total overhaul? Enter container gardening. And this audiobook has it all, from how to get the soil right to how to care for your garden, and even troubleshooting later on.
I particularly liked the section on "advanced techniques". Succession planting, companion planting, and propagation. The author does a great job at opening up your mind to what's possible, even in containers!

Great Book!!
As a novice gardener, I recently embarked on an exciting adventure with DIY Container Gardening: Cultivating Your Compact Eden. Written by S.K. Barnett, this book became my go-to as I jumped into the world of growing plants in small spaces. The book opens with a promise: You don't need a sprawling backyard to cultivate a thriving garden. Whether you're in a high-rise apartment or have a tiny balcony, container gardening is your ticket to green bliss. Since I live in an apartment with a small balcony, I was intrigued. The book delivers! Before I even touched soil, I learned about planning. Barnett emphasizes the importance of thoughtful design. What should I grow? How much sunlight does my space receive? Armed with this knowledge, I mapped out my container garden. The book's step-by-step guidance made it simple and easy to set up my little oasis! If you're a newbie like me. I highly recommend this book!

Excellent Guide For All Gardners!
Although this well-written book centers on container gardening, much of the content can apply to one's backyard garden! It covers the basics of container gardening, including the most important: good, healthy soil. Another interesting area is the idea of companion planting, which is thoroughly covered here and very helpful. The book also discusses the types of fruits and vegetables that can be grown and how to do so. Along with when and how to harvest - and what to do to preserve your bounty, including canning, freezing, or drying. All in all, it's a great book that I highly recommend!
