About this listen
The day Fitzwilliam Darcy marries Elizabeth Bennet, he thinks his life is complete at last. Four months later, even greater joy appears on the horizon when Elizabeth finds out she is pregnant. But it is not long before outside forces intrude on their happiness. When the unthinkable happens, Elizabeth and Darcy must discover their love for each other all over again.
Romantic and insightful, Darcy's Temptation captures the original style and sardonic wit of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice while weaving its beloved characters into an exciting new tale. In a story set against the backdrop of the British abolitionist movement, family difficulties and social affairs weigh heavily on the newlyweds, and a dramatic turn of events forces Elizabeth to try to recapture Darcy’s love before the manipulative Cecelia McFarland succeeds in luring him away.

What if Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy spoke honestly to each other in Kent and clarified any misconceptions prior to his making his proposal? What would happen if Mr. Bennet made an ill-fated attempt to resolve the issue of the entail only to create a much bigger problem for his family and Mrs. Bennet were even more of a shrew than in canon? What if Mr. Bennet had a secret reason to encourage the couple to marry quickly and before returning home? Will they ever be able to overcome the resentment that results from Mr. Bennet's manipulations or from Mrs. Bennet's subsequent behaviors?

Good story but over long
This was a good story but I did find it a little slow and over long. Two women after Darcy should have been only one. The London one would have been enough. I would have liked to have seen Lady Catherine more involved with the plot against the Darcy’s. Also, Darcy was overly attached to his sister to the point of concerning to the point of ....... There were also too many I Love You Elizabeth’s. Made Darcy seem to be ridiculously needy. The basic story line was an interesting take but it became boring rather than exciting. The narrator was alright but the voices used for some of the characters sometimes did not match their educational and intellectual level. Mr. Aston sounded too uneducated, more like a stable hand or footman.

Didn’t even finish (partial spoiler)
I’ve read some of Miss Jeffers’ work before, and usually prefer the longer works, but I couldn’t even get through this one for a couple of reasons:
1. The author’s voice as narrator is monotonous. Her character voices are equally confusing, and at times only the context and narration let you know who’s speaking.
2. The story is TERRIBLE! Some things, like modern day phrasing and American colloquialisms being used, Lady Catherine blatantly disdaining Elizabeth AND Colonel Fitzwilliam (who is engaged to Ann) in front of those not related to her are not true to the time period at all. Other things are just far off the mark for the characters themselves: Lizzy and Darcy are both incredibly insecure (Elizabeth would not put her head in her hands and cry after Lady Catherine berates her and then apologize to Darcy for the inferiority of her relations), Jane openly berates Mrs. Bennet, Kitty asking Mr. Darcy what kissing Lizzy feels like; I could go on.
I stopped the book when a woman with OCD, who knows who Darcy is even though he has amnesia, blatantly lies about his identity and bribes a servant to lie so that she can marry him. Good thing it was part of the Romance package and I didn’t pay for this book.
