About this listen

The day Fitzwilliam Darcy marries Elizabeth Bennet, he thinks his life is complete at last. Four months later, even greater joy appears on the horizon when Elizabeth finds out she is pregnant. But it is not long before outside forces intrude on their happiness. When the unthinkable happens, Elizabeth and Darcy must discover their love for each other all over again.

Romantic and insightful, Darcy's Temptation captures the original style and sardonic wit of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice while weaving its beloved characters into an exciting new tale. In a story set against the backdrop of the British abolitionist movement, family difficulties and social affairs weigh heavily on the newlyweds, and a dramatic turn of events forces Elizabeth to try to recapture Darcy’s love before either the manipulative Elizabeth Donnelly or the equally tenacious Cecelia McFarland succeeds in luring him away.

Glitches with narration

Very good story except imo there was TMI at times such as Elizabeth nearly begging Darcy to ravish her and I don’t see how she could forgive him so easily. Also I’ve read and heard one too many labor and delivery scenes for this couple. ……Within the first few months of their marriage, Darcy’s been gone for weeks staying with another woman though not his fault he also has amnesia and reverts to his superior attitude of thinking Elizabeth beneath his status and she would disappoint his dead parents. At no time does he ever put her first even though he said vows of forsaking all others, leaving his mother and father and cleaving to his wife. When he’s not pleasing his dead father he decides he alone must take his sister to London and leave Elizabeth at home. He thinks hanging out with a beautiful “ton” lady is just the thing to “help” him launch Georgianna into society. The entire country is gossiping about it but he is the last to know. Then decides he should still stay in town for several more weeks to defray the talk keeping him away from home. He is always dashing off and Elizabeth is a door mat. It is well written but some of the situations went on too long at the expense of other more interesting stories such as the secondary characters. There is a yelp before each chapter where the VV makes a sound that is so annoying. Otherwise not too bad but a real voice is preferable. I enjoyed the book and can easily recommend it.
