About this listen

Now you can learn how to be a voice actor with this audio set of demonstrations by the legendary voice of Yogi Bear: Daws Butler! Daws talks directly to you, demonstrating his dialect technique and entertaining you at the same time!

Daws Butler was not only the voice of Yogi Bear but of Huckleberry Hound, Quick Draw McGraw, Baba Looey, Augie Doggie, Mr. Jinks, Dixie, Hokey Wolf, Fibber Fox, Cap'n Crunch, Quisp, Chilly Willy, Cogswell, Elroy Jetson, Henry Orbit, Hair Bear, Lambsy, Lippy the Lion, Loopy De Loop, Peter Potamus, Scooby-Dum, Snagglepuss, Super Snooper and Blabber Mouse, Undercover Elephant, Wally Gator, Yahooey, and others!

Daws has also trained many voice actors, including Nancy Cartwright (the voice of Bart Simpson), Corey Burton (the voice of Dale in Chip 'n' Dale), Bill Farmer (the voice of Goofy, Pluto, and Horace Horsecollar), and Joe Bevilacqua/Joe Bev (whom Butler personally taught to do all of his characters). Butler also trained Hal Rayle, who ultimately determined that his best-known character, Doyle Cleverlobe from Galaxy High School, should sound like Elroy Jetson after he finished puberty.

Included in this set: "A Visit to Daws Butler's Studio", "Daws Butler on Acting", "Daws Butler Teaches Voice Acting".

A true blast from the past! A hidden gem!

What did you love best about Daws Butler Teaches You How to Do Voices?

Real, like visiting Daws Butler in his studio. Good tips and fun to listen to.

Would you recommend Daws Butler Teaches You How to Do Voices to your friends? Why or why not?

Yes. Fun learning about some dialects and speaking into a microphone in an on the fly manner.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Laughed a few times because it is all adlib and makes some good jokes.

Any additional comments?

Keep in mind, Daws made this for the person who introduced the Audio book. Like I said it's adlib from Daws, so it's unprofessional and not really created for mass production but that makes it almost better and it feels personable. I'm glad the person who put this together shared it.

Daws Butler is a legend!

I grew up watching Saturday morning cartoons...now a thing of the past, took me a good while to record all the cartoons of my past, but I did it! Now my son enjoys them more then the new cartoons that are out today...anyway, Mr. Butler has been the driving force in my character development. I'm so grateful for his workshops and the well done books on techniques! Anyone interested in creating their own characters needs to listen to the Master himself...theirs just no better of a teacher then Mr. Daws Butler period!

Outstanding look back in time... True Genius...

An outstanding look back in time giving us a peek at True Genius... in voice acting, and acting in general.

Whether you are a voice acting newbie like me, a historian interested an old-time acting , or just another baby boomer who wants to enjoy the voices from our childhood this is a wonderful investment...
