About this listen
The way Inspector Hanzō Shimura had it figured, it was just another case. Sure, it was sick, twisted, but those were human traits he’d grown accustomed to. A hardened veteran of two wars, there was little left on Earth that could faze a man like him. But what didn’t sit well with him was that this case’s blood-trail led him home. All the way to Nagasaki, where he’d lost his wife and daughter to the atom bomb, nine years before.
Back Home he uncovered a trail that quickly turned into a river of violence . Hot on the heels a serial killer for the ages, with a mysterious American woman watching his every move from the shadows. Hanzō unraveled the case the only way a cop could in 1954, with cold graft, hard-won intuition and brute force. It wasn't long, however, before he learned that wouldn't be enough. He was chasing a very different kind murderer.
Fast-paced and packed with conspiracy, intrigue and espionage. 'Ocean Thousand, Mountain Thousand' is a hard-boiled globetrotter that revels in its settings, historically and culturally. A noir thriller with gallons of blood spilled along the way, it is not for the faint of heart.

This audiobook was amazing. overall I found that the voice narrator really added something to the story.
I had read the book before it was an audiobook and it a really great read but listening to it really gives it a hole new feel, pulling you into that world even more. The author does a great job at taking you on a thrilling dark journey through his storytelling. He does a wonderful balancing act of keeping you intrigued and wanting more whith out it feeling lacking. It's an exciting, captivating and gritty ride. The blend of the authors writing style and voice narrator compliment each other very well. Honestly one of the best audiobooks I I've listened to in a while and I totally recommend it giving it a listen to.

A great story with endearing characters, riddled with historical references!
This is a book I think that would do well if turned into a movie. The plot goes on at a very good pace with little fluff; and the characters are set to be a lot more likeable as the story progresses. The historical references are such a nice touch to add to the setting. It really lets you feel the weight of its time but still feels like its from a modern take.
I really enjoyed this read as it was action packed and shows the drama of the human experience in a time where death and killing was so prevelant, seen through the eyes of people have witnessed it.

Interesting Story, but quite Drawn out
This story was mainly centered in Japan with Japanese police personnel and an American Pinkerton agent. This story is in end of 1954 and has to do with murders throughout various countries. Narrator does a good job with the entire storyline.
I felt story was drawn out, and could have been done in a shorter amount of length.
