What did you love best about De Profundis?

The performance and the final passages.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Not an appropriate question. I guess I would have had Mr Wilde find the humble cure he thirsted for upon release from prison and produce more work rather than succumb to the drain of society.

What about Corin Redgrave’s performance did you like?

Very expressive performance well beyond a simple reading with the wonderful hint of Irish accent. Also very appropriate echoes from the walls within which your man was encarcerated.

This is a very short work, but it does give a direct insight into the way the life of an interesting man was virtually snubbed out after he was torn from the pedestal he never really needed. It is worth a little trip to Wikipedia to find out something of the context that surrounds this epistle from the depths. But perhaps also worth listening to it for yourself before you read any kind of literary criticism of it.
