Of course it's good. its Nicholas Bellla!! as always the writing is outstanding, Nicholas Bella is always an author you know what you are getting in his stories. this one is a little tamer then some but, still very good. Matt Williams does an awesome job of narrating and bringing all of the characters to life. Deacon is an interesting character and it was an exciting ride learning of his background and life story. he did plenty of shady things to not only enemies but the ones he supposedly care about. well worth the credit and your time to listen.

I started listening to Nicholas Bella’s New Haven books several years ago and found them darkly intriguing. However, I remember being a little confused about the dynamics of the paranormal world, the relationships between the many wolves, and the goals of the main characters. I remember thinking the vampires and wolves were unnecessarily cruel and very horny. This prequel tells Deacon’s (the Godfather of the wolf pack) story and explains so much of his heartless actions and the motivation behind those actions.
In my opinion, this story is much more interesting and relies less on sexual excess to keep the reader’s attention and interest.
Am reading Theoden’s story next, also a newer book in the series. Then I’ll re-listen to the books I read years ago and expect I’ll enjoy a much better understanding of the characters and plot.
Matt William’s performance was excellent too!

One of the New Haven characters we all love to hate has his day in the sun.

Deacon, The cunning and calculating Wolfpack alpha comes from a violent background. His tale will help you understand why he does some of the things he does and how he manipulates situations to his advantage.
Seeing the man behind the plots and plans as a intelligent survivor who is capable of love and loyalty is extremely eye-opening for readers of this series.

As A prequel this can be read as a standalone, but definitely will have you wanting to read the entire series. Which I highly recommend all of the new haven and Orion series if you were a fan of dark supernatural novels. Always well written characters and world building with a Nicholas Bella novel.

Deacon was one of my least favorite characters of the series, I found him very manipulative and had no basis for why he did the things he did to get ahead and to get his pack more land. After this novel I definitely have a little more like for him and a lot more respect.

The audible version is astounding of this novel. The narrator draws you into the story and you can smell the desperation and anxiety that this character is put through. One of the best narrators in the business has woven this tale of strength and perseverance. Don’t pass this opportunity up to hear the rich towns of this narrators voice.

I have to say this Audible book in all of Nicholas Bella’s pull is my favorite. We get a deeper insight of how Deacon became the sexy Alpha we all know and love. The narrator knocked it out of the park with this one. It truly felt like I was in the story, that I was part of it. I have only felt like that with reading, but this narrator takes by the feels and enchants you with this amazing novel. Well done!!! Ten out of ten!

Great! Deacon is surprising in the best ways and getting his backstory was perfect. Bella always delivers a great complex character with all the right touches. Dark, kinky and sexy. Matt brings all this to life with a perfect tone and flow for the scenes. Can't wait for the next.
