About this listen

Gianni Peroni is at a loose end. He's got nothing urgent to do but he notices that the pathologist has a busy day ahead: during the night two corpses were picked out of the Tiber. At first glance, it seems that the similarities between the two men end there. But then Gianni notices something very strange...

A Fascinating Day in the Life of Gianni Peroni

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

If you are a fan of the Nic Costa series, you must give this a listen. Saul Reichlin's narration is perfect, as usual. Peroni gets a chance to move from his supporting role to being the central character in the story, and the listener has the pleasure of observing Peroni's old school detective work.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Dead Men's Socks?

Seeing how Peroni handles the hot shot Commissario from up north.

What does Saul Reichlin bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Every character has a unique voice, but Reichlin achieves this with great subtlety. I think I would even enjoy hearing Reichlin read the phone book.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, particularly because it is short.
