True suspense novel!

Deadly Commitment by Kathy Harris, the first in The Deadly Secrets series, is a great way to start this series. The author keeps you guessing while giving you a taste of the Nashville, TN scene. The characters are realistic and the narrator does a great job in keeping the listener engaged. For those who like suspense, but want to skip the goriness, this book is for you. Lack of gore does not mean lack of story strength. This is a true suspense novel and not a "who done it" mystery. Looking forward to the next book!

Excellent

It's rare that I listen to a book in less than a week, but I did with this one. This story gripped me from the beginning to the end. The characters and plot grabbed me and I had to keep listening to find out what would happen next.

too much Christian dogma took away from an otherwise good story

Aside from the fact that there was entirely too much Christian dogma, This was a good story and the narrator did a very good job bringing the characters to life. But if I had known there would be so much “god did this” and “god will supply your needs”
And “god put me here for a reason” and “god led you here” blah-blah-blah, and praying god to protect from bullets in a major shootout, I probably wouldn’t have purchased the book. I don’t mind including an occasional prayer in a tense situation, or talking to a minister or attending church, but it got a bit ridiculous in this story. Sorry, but I’m pretty sure Kevlar would have been better armor in a gun battle than prayer to some cosmic being that may or may not exist.
