Kenneth Obi
Someone is trying to kill Marc Foster.
Attempted poisoning was bad enough, but when the would-be killer messes with the brakes on Marc’s precious Porsche, the art dealer admits he needs help. He just wasn’t expecting help to be quite so dark and sexy.
Royce Karras loves his job at Ward Security. He’s making up for a lifetime of bad decisions and a bloody past he’d rather forget. But Marc isn’t the spoiled rich boy he thought he’d be protecting. Sticking close to Marc as his “boyfriend” gives Royce insight into his toxic family, but it also reveals a brilliant, compassionate man who completely disarms Royce. Against his better judgment, Royce finds himself falling.
But can they find a way to make it work when Royce’s past threatens to tear their lives apart? Their future hinges on a lost Renaissance painting, six Bichon Frises, and a pornographic Robin Hood.
No worries, right?

Loved it

The characters are brought to life through the narration and Kenneth does a fabulous job of making each one unique. There were several side characters in this particular book and it was always easy to know who was speaking.
I sat on the edge of my seat.
I laughed out loud.
I cried the last half of the final chapter. Heart wrenching to happy.
Hooked On This Series

This was a great book. It’s been awhile since I heard the last book so I had forgotten that Ward Security is a spin-off of the Unbreakable Bonds series. A few characters are mentioned so I had to refresh myself. You don’t need it to get this book but it adds another layer to knowing these guys. I’m super bummed that those books aren’t in audiobook form. I am keeping my fingers crossed that someday the powers that be decide to make that happen. Ok, enough of a rant.
Royce is a bodyguard with a shady past who ends up protecting an art dealer who keeps having attempts on his life. The difference between these two’s backgrounds makes an interesting play for them falling in love.
Kennath Obi is great as usual. He’s def one of my favorite narrators.
Hot and Suspenseful

Really good

Hearing this book narrated made it feel like I was in the story as a side character to or even like I was watching a play or movie. By far the best work by Kenneth Obi in both the Ward Security and Unbreakable Bonds thus far!

As I've said before, I get that this is a tough series to narrate because the books have like 10+ characters in them with dialogue. But when he's narrating (in this case) Royce's parts in dialogue, he sounds absolutely ridiculous. Like when a woman tries to imitate a man, so she sounds like she's puckering her lips. It's very obvious he can not maintain that level of tone of voice, and had he chosen to not go so low, it would have sounded way better. He did the same thing with Sven. It's just so incredibly obvious that it's totally distracting to me. I just wish he'd play around with voices just a little more in order to find tones that are more natural sounding.
Oh the voices ...
