In a poignant and powerful memoir, David takes us on a compelling journey through his childhood and adolescence in 1970s and 1980s Baltimore. Dear Mama: A Journey Through Poverty, Race, and Resilience is a heartfelt tribute to the indomitable spirit of his mother, who navigated the challenges of raising her children amidst poverty, racial discrimination, and personal turmoil.

Through vivid storytelling, David recounts the pivotal moments that shaped his life and his family's trajectory. From the early years marked by his father's betrayal and the subsequent struggle for survival, to the profound impact of relocating to a racially tense suburb, each chapter unfolds with raw honesty and emotional depth.
