About this listen

In the shadows of a Scottish castle, something deadly is lurking in every corner…

When FBI special agent Luke Kendrick discovers chilling evidence of dozens of victims at a crime scene in London, he recognizes the calling card of the notorious H. H. Holmes Society. Named for the eighteenth-century monster regarded as America’s first serial killer, the society is comprised of a twisted web of killers, working to carry out heinous murders in Holmes’s memory. And now the group’s been linked to a Scottish castle turned B and B—where guests check in but never check out.

Arriving at the sinister Graystone Castle posed as a tourist, Luke is joined by Special Agent Carly MacDonald, and the pair is immediately confronted by dangers hidden in the castle’s depths. With guests disappearing and a network of killers closing in, Luke and Carly have only each other to rely on—and they’ll have to race to cut off the head of the snake before the blood trail of the past can culminate in a very real and deadly present.

Great thriller and history

Another great European Krewe story. Creepy dungeons with diabolical characters trying to thwart the police and the Krewe!

Good story, but history dumping.

It was a good story, but it felt like a brochure for Scotland. There was too much history and exposition and it made the dialogue feel stiff.

Supposed to be set in Scotland?

I keep buying these titles because they're offered in the sale section. The stories are decent but the narration is so dry and boring that every single time, I ask myself if it wouldn't be better to just get it on Kindle and not waste money on having it performed. This one was the absolute worst. Supposed to be set in Scotland... even has a German character and every single voice may as well be in middle America. Why do y'all keep hiring this man? There are women a plenty who could give you every single voice as a distinctive sound and do every single accent perfectly. Come on.

Predictable/Perfect Scenarios

What are the odds that two American FBI Agents TDY on the same case in Scotland have ties to the area, are close enough in age, unmarried, beautiful and handsome, can both see/communicate with the dead, top shots and are perfectly lovely unbroken people? Come on now, even Disney kills characters…

Not impressed!

The ghost was totally unbelievable as told in this book. I barely got through the recording.

love the narrator not the story

The concept of a "krewe" that had agents who could see/talk to ghosts was interesting. However, none of the agents would of been successful without the help of spirits, which was sad.
The history of the area along with the (often repetitive) history of H.H. Holmes added a tiny bit of interest but not really to the story itself.
Highly disappointed that the editors didn't catch that when Luke was "undercover" supposedly as John Smith, the author reverted back to calling him Luke (even by the people who knew him as John Smith) which ruined that part of the story & finale.
I bought this book because of who the narrator was, but was left dissatisfied with the story.

Paranormal Mystery in Scotland, love it!

I really enjoyed this paranormal mystery spin-off. The setting and history of Scotland offer a new backdrop for this mystery without losing any of the paranormal mystery fun that we've come to expect from Heather Graham. I love the original series and the spin-off does not disappoint.
