One of the most endearing and personable amateur sleuths" (Midwest Book Review), herbalist and ex-lawyer China Bayles is back. In Death Come Quickly, a friend's murder may be the key to solving a fifteen-year-old cold case.
When China's and Ruby's friend Karen Prior is mugged in a mall parking lot and dies a few days later, China begins to suspect that her friend's death was not a random assault. Karen was a filmmaker supervising a student documentary about the fifteen-year-old murder of a woman named Christine Morris and the acquittal of the man accused of the crime. Is it possible that the same person who killed Christine Morris targeted Karen?
Delving into the cold case, China learns the motive for the first murder may be related to a valuable collection of Mexican art. Enlisting the help of her San Antonio lawyer friend Justine Wyzinski - aka the Whiz - China is determined to track down the murderer. But is she painting herself into a corner from which there's no escape?

What did you love best about Death Come Quickly?
The author does a very good job, it's well written, plenty of twists and turns and side plots to keep you interested. This is a favorite series and I hate finishing it because now I have to wait for the next installment...Great series

Which character – as performed by Julia Gibson – was your favorite?
I love Julia's Ruby. I sometimes have to remind myself that it is indeed one voice actress. Ms. Gibson is one of my all time favourite narrators. I'm not a connoisseur of accents - so if there's any imperfections in the Southern accents - I'm blissfully ignorant.Any additional comments?
One of my favourite things about this series is you never know what Susan Wittig Albert will do with her well established characters. Will she stay in Pecan Springs? Travel back in time, or remain in the present. I always enjoy the China Bayles' books and wherever they might take me.*** Small note in regards to the sound editing. there were at least three places where the one sentence was said twice, back to back. Someone missed it when editing the book together :-(
Excellent - as always

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Would recommend the book but NOT this audiobookDid the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Plot was very good, as usual. Love the China Bayles seriesHow could the performance have been better?
The performer spoke in such an obnoxious twang that even I, a native Texan who can make my name, Pat, into a two-sylable word, cringed as if listening the nails on a chalkboard. Will be certain to avoid her performances at all costsWas Death Come Quickly worth the listening time?
BarelyPainful!!
