 1958 The Cold War is up and running. The arms race is in full swing. The U. S. is in a race against the Soviet Union and only time would tell who will win. The race has reached out and grabbed Weatherford, Texas and Mary Waters. Mary is oblivious, she just knows that her brother and his wife were killed and she is now the sole guardian of her six year old nephew. No one was able to find the one who killed Luke Waters’ parents and three years later Mary figured they never will. But suddenly she seemed to be in the middle of a cold war of her very own.
The FBI is always trying to figure out who are the good guys and who are the bad ones. Odell Jackson has been doing this for more years than he even wants to think about. When his boss, Jeffrey Swanson, asks him to go to Weatherford to see if he can check out the accidental death of a man the agency had planted at General Dynamics, he is told by Sheriff Johnny Young that Mary Waters brother may have been the first victim. Odell wonders what the sheriff means. When he meets Mary, he doesn’t care anymore. He just wants to get to know her better and help her get closure for her brother’s death.
Will Odell and Mary find her brother’s killer before he strikes again? Can Mary protect her nephew from the men who want to hurt him? Why after three years are they now after her and her nephew? All of these questions and more run through Odell’s head as he tries to figure this out before the woman he has fallen in love with is murdered like her brother.
