The BRAND NEW instalment in the Malvern Mysteries from Kate Wells
This is no peaceful walk in the countryside…
When Jude Gray and DI Binnie Khatri join a local walking group, their expectations for a peaceful outing to the Malvern Hills takes a grim turn. Arguments abound, and the hike ends in tragedy when one of the walkers is found dead in her car.
Initially ruled as an accident, Jude's instincts tell her there’s more to the story.
As Jude and Binnie dig deeper, they uncover tensions and secrets within the group. From hidden affairs to longstanding rivalries, it becomes clear this death was no accident.
With each revelation, the danger grows. Can Jude and Binnie unravel the mystery before the killer strikes again?
A gripping addition to the Malvern Farm Mystery series, perfect for fans of Frances Evesham, Merryn Allingham, and Faith Martin.

The line I really wondered about is when Jude says "she is a good judge of character". In all the books she is friends with/protects the killers...and in some cases a serial killer. If there is one person who hasno clue, it's Jude. She always thinks she is better/smarter than everyone else. The level of entitlement to the police/private files/other people's property and to be in on police info, is overwhelming. She complains about the village gossip, but Jude is in everyone's business and sometimes braking into their homes! Jude should stop sometimes and mind her own business, then maybe the police would not have to save her all the time ( and Noah twice).
The narrator is okay, but I agree that Sebi is a little too much to take, and the voice is a little too old sounding. All the other characters are good.
If you can get over the arrogance of Jude and her entitled behaviour, then it might not be too bad.
The mystery is good andI like so many of the other supporting characters, so kept going with the series. I know I would not appreciate someone like Jude as a neighbour.
Unlikeable main character
