About this listen

Soon to be a major motion picture sequel to Murder on the Orient Express with a screenplay by Michael Green, directed by and starring Kenneth Branagh alongside Gal Gadot and Armie Hammer - coming September 17, 2021!

Beloved detective Hercule Poirot embarks on a journey to Egypt in one of Agatha Christie’s most famous mysteries.

The tranquility of a luxury cruise along the Nile was shattered by the discovery that Linnet Ridgeway had been shot through the head. She was young, stylish, and beautiful. A girl who had everything...until she lost her life.

Hercule Poirot recalled an earlier outburst by a fellow passenger: “I’d like to put my dear little pistol against her head and just press the trigger.” Yet under the searing heat of the Egyptian sun, nothing is ever quite what it seems.

A sweeping mystery of love, jealousy, and betrayal, Death on the Nile is one of Christie’s most legendary and timeless works.

Death on the Nile is perfect.” (The Guardian)

“One of her best.... First rate entertainment.” (Kirkus Reviews)

Perfect Poirot Voice

I love the voice that David Suchet uses for Poirot. Looks like he played Poirot in a past BBC series, so that likely accounts for his spot-on depiction. The voice is filled with quirkiness and humor, making this murder mystery feel lighthearted. I usually don't read anything that could be considered remotely "scary" and that includes murder mystery, but I can read Christie. I think it's because her characters are comprised much of caricature, so it helps put distance between the reality of my world and what's going on in "book world." Then I look at the story as a puzzle to be solved rather than an account of deaths to be mourned. I also like how Christie has Poirot moralize. #UnlikelyHero #Clever #Quirky #Egypt #tagsgiving #sweepstakes

David Suchet's Voice Talents Amaze

David Suchet does the narration and voices exquisitely for all of the characters. His range and ease of transition between them is amazing. Wonderfully executed!

Predicable

By now, after reading so many of her books, this one I predicted the murderer at the very beginning. Maybe to a less experienced agatha Christie reader this would be more thrilling. "Murder of Roger ackroyd" still takes the cake for me

A strong, adventurous, psychological Christie

This Christie effectively blends the exciting plot and setting of some of her more adventure-oriented mysteries with Poirot's signature psychological insight as the key to solving the murder. David Suchet is as always my favourite narrator - his characterisation is vivid, and his Poirot is of course definitive. A good one.

He Hit the Nile On the Head

David Suchet is masterful in his narration of this Agatha Christie mystery. He has different voices for each character. It is also a treat, after watching all the Agatha Christie movies with David Suchet as Hercule Poirot, to hear his voice in that role again. You will not go wrong in listening to this version of Death on the Nile.

Lots of twists and turns, great narration!

True to Christie style, all the characters were intertwined with motives and back stories. David Suchet is fabulous with different voices and inflections. Definitely a must read/listen to any mystery lover.

Suchet is STILL the greatest Poirot!

A great story read by a wonderful actor. David is Poirot for most people and his voice just makes the whole book come alive.
