Story
The ancient Toltecs believed that life, as we perceive it, is a dream. We each live in our own personal dream, and these come together to form the dream of the planet, or the world in which we live. Problems arise when our perception of the dream becomes clouded with negativity, drama, and judgment (of ourselves and others), because it's in these moments of suffering that we have forgotten that we are the architects of our own reality and we have the power to change our dream if we choose.

Story
The book of Enoch was thought to be lost for over 2,000 years until, in 1773, a traveller brought three copies back from Ethiopia. Whether or not this ancient book was actually authored by Enoch, the father of Methuselah and great-grandfather of Noah, is an ongoing debate among historians and theologians. But all recognise the book of Enoch as one of the most important apocalyptic works outside of the Bible.

The secret to happiness is to acknowledge and transform suffering, not to run away from it. Here, Thich Nhat Hanh offers practices and inspiration transforming suffering and finding true joy. Thich Nhat Hanh acknowledges that because suffering can feel so bad, we try to run away from it or cover it up by consuming. We find something to eat or turn on the television. But unless we’re able to face our suffering, we can’t be present and available to life, and happiness will continue to elude us.

Thought-Provoking
This book was incredibly interesting and thought-provoking! I do not necessarily agree with everything, but isn’t that the point? I loved hearing a variety of experiences and beliefs. I loved how the author is respectful and loving towards all beliefs. And I loved how the author is helping us think outside of our own frame of reference.

Great overview of NDEs and OBEs
I thought the tone encouraged open-mindedness to various experiences and research about life after death. Though I already believed this, having more stories from others of NDErs was good. The positive tone encourages readers to find commonalities and look at our shared humanity instead of focusing on differences and division.

A marvelous look into what the afterlife is perceived to be from real experiences
From listening to this book, it is interesting to discover that the afterlife can be perceived in a variety of ways. From various experiences from people who had near-death experiences (NDEs) and out-of-body experiences (OBEs), The afterlife doesn't seem to follow any set rules. Instead, this plane of existence seems to be flexible with cultural backgrounds, life experiences, value alignment, and so on.
If you or someone you know may be potentially nervous about what comes after death, this is an informative and comforting book to start with.
