Anfangs hast du dem Ganzen nicht so viel Bedeutung beigemessen. Doch vor kurzem war da eines Nachts plötzlich dieser Gedanke, der dem komischen Gefühl endlich eine Bedeutung gab: "Hilfe, ich verpasse gerade mein Leben!"
In unserer Jugend erscheint uns das Leben unendlich. Wir haben das Gefühl, noch endlos lange Zeit zu haben, um unsere Träume zu verwirklichen. Sorglos leben wir in den Tag hinein. Doch irgendwann merken wir – meistens passiert das, wenn wir 30 werden oder die 30 ansteuern –, dass die Jugend doch nicht ewig andauert und ein gewisses Unbehagen macht sich breit: War das jetzt schon alles?
Zu allem Überfluss scheint plötzlich auch die Zeit viel schneller zu vergehen.
Wir haben das Gefühl, noch unendlich viele Träume, aber keine Zeit mehr zu haben. Stress macht sich breit und lässt uns nachts angsterfüllt aufwachen.

Doch eigentlich wünschst du dir nur, auszubrechen aus dem täglichen Trott und diesem Leben, das dir so gewöhnlich und sinnlos erscheint. Du hast dich schon gefragt, ob du irgendwie "anders" bist. Denn alle um dich herum scheinen super klarzukommen, haben sich irgendwie eingerichtet. Oder tun zumindest so, als ob. Aber das reicht dir nicht. Du willst nicht nur so tun als ob, du willst wirklich leben! Und vor allem: dich endlich angekommen und zufrieden fühlen.
Um weiterzukommen, hast du bereits Ratgeber gelesen und es vielleicht sogar mit Yoga und Meditation probiert. Du hast den Job gewechselt, nur um festzustellen, dass du im nächsten auch nicht glücklicher warst. Zwei Beziehungen sind bereits an deiner Unzufriedenheit und Rastlosigkeit gescheitert. Und die Reise nach Tibet vor ein paar Monaten hat dich auch nicht weitergebracht.
Also: Zeit, den Blick nach innen zu wenden! Denn so viel du auch versuchst, das Außen zu verändern, du wirst immer wieder scheitern und zum Ausgangspunkt – deiner Unzufriedenheit und Angst, dein Leben zu verpassen – zurückkommen.
"Alles eine Frage der inneren Einstellung" sagt man oft so salopp daher. Doch meistens stimmt es wirklich. Mit unserer inneren Haltung und Ausrichtung können wir vieles beeinflussen. Und genau darum geht es in diesem Buch. Es geht um die Veränderung innerer, sprich mentaler und emotionaler, Prozesse, die einen äußeren Wandel erst ermöglichen.
