About this listen
Should she jump?
When the train is headed for disaster, the engineer can jump out, right?
Carolina knew moving teenagers from the Atlanta suburbs to a small Georgia mountain town was a horrible idea. She knew opening a B&B was an even worse plan. She can’t see around the next curve, but....
Should she jump?
Oncoming headlights aren’t only aimed at her family, the town of Chancey is being set up for a collision that could change everything. And as that unfolds, Carolina’s husband Jackson is smack dab in the middle of it all, his hand on the throttle, going full steam ahead.
Should she jump?
Would you?

Jewel Mantelle has never lived in the South, much less on the coast, so moving from Chicagoland to the historic North Florida coastal town of Sophia Island seems like just the adventure to fix her marriage. However, when she arrives, she finds that it’s awfully hot and humid there and that these Southern folks really like to hug. Her husband’s past on the island includes a creaky old house in the historic district and lots of nosy relatives he’d forgotten to mention.

they put the d in dysfunction
The dysfunctional family continues. Carolina is so NOT present in her life and marriage, that she makes me furious. Jackson is pathetic and apathetic. He can't standup to his maneater of a coworker Carter Mae!!! The kids (Sav and Ryan) run amuck. They make the decisions abd choose whether to tell mom Caro or not. Great parenting Caro. No discipline at all. Caro became more of the family and town doormat than ever. She acted too late and neither deserved a second chance. Too dumb for hea!! I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a good job.

This IS small town llife...
If you have never lived in a small town, you really won't understand how true this series of books are. The mom, Carolina, is realizing how hard it is to move from a bustling town of Atlanta to a slow moving, everyone knows everyone (and in your business) life. Best of all, as a passive/aggressive Mom, who LOVES HER KIDS, she is willing to do whatever it takes to make her family happy. Even if she is not sure that she is happy doing it. I love Carolina. I love the 'in your face' Lainey, the 'this is how it is' Susan and...Mrs...well...she reminds me of an Aunt I have, so how could I not love her, as well.
I got a bit aggravated with Jackson and his attitude about the B&B that HE wanted, but has nothing to do with, but Carolina makes it work.
Suzanne Barbetta is perfect as the narrator for this series. Her southern charm, the nuances of her voice, the flow in which she tells the story all bring the characters to life.
I love this series and HIGHLY recommend it!

The Chancey Story continues...and so delightfully
This audiobook was provided to me for an honest review.
To be honest, when I was gifted the first three books, I wondered if I should have just requested the first one in case they were disappointing. (Better to have to write one review than three, eh?) But WOW! I was so engaged in the town of Chancey by the time I was half way through the second book, I went to Audible and purchased the rest of the series. I LOVE these stories.
Kay Dew Shostak hit the mark on small towns. I grew up in one, and she understands how they work. Her characters are pretty accurate in most small town politics – one dominant leader (also known as a bossy know-it-all), people with assertive personalities (the fun people) who work around the dominant leader, and then the followers (everyone else that wants to stay neutral). It makes for a fun mix in a tiny town where gossip travels faster than a speeding bullet.
Her characters draw you into their lives and before you know it, you feel like you live there too.
There is no murder, no violence or descriptive sex – just good clean stories. If you want to just lose yourself in a book (or preferably the whole series), I recommend these audiobooks. You’ll come out of it feeling quite satisfied!

Love Everything Chauncey
Another great book in the series. These stories are so true to the lives that the average person lives. I love that the storylines are relatable and the characters come with flaws and all. I snickered so many times when reading this as it made me think of all the drama I’ve had with family throughout my life time. In the end though, it’s those that drive us the most nuts that we truly love the most. Thanks for writing such a wonder story that shows just how important friends and family really are.

Love this series
I loved this series from the start however this book was filled with some turmoil that I did not like. I like the couple and the family to be solid but they were on shaky ground which did not sit well with me. Basically, this series is a cozy one with great, likeable characters along with bits of knowledge sprinkled in. I am looking forward to the next one in the series. Anyone have a free code?

Great series. I don’t typically list to books over eight hours but this series held my attention. I really enjoyed the first 2 books and the third not as much. I think the third book was to drawn out. I would still recommend all of the books.
