Unmittelbar an Schloss Rodriganda knüpft dieses Hörbuch an. Anfangs spielt es in Deutschland, dann geht es wieder nach Mexiko, Hauptschauplatz ist die wilde Mapimi, eine Wüste im Nordosten des Landes. Eine alte geheimnisvolle Pyramide steht im Mittelpunkt der hochdramatischen Handlung.
Die bösartigen Brüder Gasparino und Pablo Cortejo lassen noch lange nicht davon ab, der Familie Rodriganda und nun auch deren Helfer und Verbündetem Karl Sternau zu schaden, wo sie nur können. Damit nicht genug mischt nun auch noch der gefürchtete Pirat Henrico Landola mit im finsteren Geschehen. Doch mit "Büffelstirn", dem großen Häuptling der Mixteka-Indianer, erhält auch die Seite der Helden wiederum Verstärkung.
