Bevor er wieder ging, steckte er mir eine Eintrittskarte für ein Eishockeyspiel einige Häuserblocks entfernt zu, nur für den Fall, dass es mit meiner echten Verabredung nicht so gut lief.
Ich verstaute die Karte in meiner Handtasche und versuchte, mich auf den Mann zu konzentrieren, mit dem ich mich treffen sollte.
Doch mein echtes Blind Date und ich hatten überhaupt keine Verbindung.
Auf dem Heimweg entschied ich mich also, ein Risiko einzugehen und das Eishockeyspiel zu besuchen.
Bei meiner Ankunft war der Platz neben mir leer.
Wieder einmal war ich enttäuscht und beschloss, nach Ende des zweiten Drittels zu gehen.
Doch kurz vor Abpfiff schoss eines der Teams ein Tor und die Zuschauer spielten verrückt.
Auf dem riesigen Bildschirm erschien das Gesicht eines Spielers.
Obwohl er einen Helm trug, erstarrte ich, als er lächelte.
Sie können es sich denken: Grübchen.
Offensichtlich hatte mein falsches Blind Date mich nicht eingeladen, um mir ein Eishockeyspiel mit ihm zusammen anzusehen, sondern er hatte mich eingeladen, ihm beim Spielen zuzuschauen.
Und so begann mein Abenteuer mit Max Yearwood.
Zu dem Zeitpunkt war er alles, was ich brauchte – witzig, sexy, zu allem bereit, und nur noch für ein paar Monate in der Stadt, da er einen Vertrag bei einem Team viertausend Kilometer entfernt unterschrieben hatte.
Max schlug vor, dass wir den Sommer damit verbringen, mir zu helfen, meinen Ex zu vergessen.
