Sexy One

Book is about office politics and sexual harassment...based on real story. Both heroes and villains are believable. And, it's about high tech 20 years ago. I saw the movie about 10 years ago and thought that I recalled the plot--but it was different than I recall...better. In my opinion, the theme/lesson is that anyone can throw out the sexual harassment flag, is instantly believed, and it shouldn't be so.

👍 Great 👍

One of his best, I think. Michael Crichton was a master at weaving together bits of fact and fiction to create the story most wanted to hear.

Brilliant story… just thin due to abridge.

I love MC. His stories always read like movies and JL did a great job reading. I have read the unabridged version and of course it adds more depth to the story but as an abridged version this is still a fun ride. Easy to enjoy in one sitting and something to go back to later.

John Lithgow plus Michael Crichton = perfection

I liked the roll reversal and that it was based on an actual case- all without diminishing the struggle faced predominantly by women.

THIS NEEDED TO BE UNABRIDGED

WHAT RUINED THIS FOR ME I KNEW BEFORE I READ IT. I WANTED THE UNABRIDGED VERSION AND THEY NEVER OFFERED IT, FINALLY BOUGHT THE ABRIDGED AND IT WAS OK BUT I RELLY WANTED THE WHOLE BOOK, JUST LIKE I WOUULD LIKE "IF YOU RELLY LOVED ME" BY ANN RULE. BUT THAT BOOK IS ONLY OFFERED IN ABRIDGED. I WON'T BUY ABRIDGED AGAIN (EXEPT IN CASES LIKE LES MISERABLES" WHICH IS THE ONLY ABRIDGED BOOK I EVER PURPOSLY BOUGHT.

Great!!!

I remember this movie from long ago....but I was young and not that interested or educated in life as much. Now I have a Masters Degree and have had a top exec position with a prominent company....this true story does happen and they cover it up all the time!!!!

Enjoyable Short-Read

Covers a lot of ground while also quick to read. Seriously effective writing.

There is a lawyer here who is a hero. She’s also a gopher, but that’s less pertinent.

Quite Short

I’ve recently become a big fan of Michael Crichton and this book was ranked as one of his best just after Jurassic Park and Lost World, which I love.

I was surprised at how short this book was, the plot is not particularly convoluted and it feels like the protagonist is directly handed the clues he needs to solve the problem. I enjoyed the story, but I don’t think this was his best work.

Loved it!

Would you listen to Disclosure again? Why?

Yes. It was a well-crafted story with believable characters.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Meredith Johnson. She was the picture of a woman who felt entitled to take whatever action she felt necessary to achieve her goals.

What about John Lithgow’s performance did you like?

Everything! He has a talent for voices which makes him an excellent choice for storytelling!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I can't point to any particular part of the story because there were so many aspects of the story that leapt at me during the entire performance!

Any additional comments?

I would recommend this story to anyone who was interested in michael crichton books!

worth it

Although I have read better Michael Crichton books I believe the listener will be highly entertained and possibly educated about sexual harassment in the workplace. What excites me most is that the book is read by John Lithgow. If you can find Bonfire of The Vanities GET IT. Lithgow plays all characters brilliantly as he does in Disclosure. The story moves well. The characters are 3 dimensional.
