About this listen

Dan Starkey reads this original novel featuring the 12th Doctor and Clara, as played in the BBC TV series by Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman.

The Phaeron travelled among the stars using roads made from time and space but left only relics behind when they disappeared over a million years ago. But what actually happened to the Phaeron?

In the far future, humans discover the last Phaeron road - and the Doctor and Clara join the mission to see where it leads. Each member of the team knows exactly what they're looking for - but only the Doctor knows exactly what they'll find.

Because only the Doctor knows the true secret of the Phaeron: a secret so terrible and powerful that it must be buried in the deepest grave imaginable....

A complete and unabridged reading by Dan Starkey, who plays Strax the Sontaran in the BBC TV series.

Once Again Starkey Nails It

Another decent adventure that I wish was filmed. The written/audio adventures of all the doctors often outshine a lot of the shows.

A good story for the 12th Doctor

I feel like this story was hard to get into. As I listened to the story I wanted to care about what was happening but sadly I just didn't. it wasn't a bad story just wasn't a great story. if you have time to kill and no other doctor who to listen to then go for it

This story would have made a fantastic multi-part TV installment during the 12th Doctor's run. The story and characters are completely consistent with the canon. Dan Starkey's voice acting brought it to life--you could feel and see the action, and the Doctor's eyebrows!

FAN-tastic Who story!

Dan Starkey elevated this from an ok read to a fun adventure. His Peter Capaldi is spot on and makes you forget you're not actually hearing him.

Wonderful performance, ok story.

This story is great material. A few tweaks of the script and it can be adapted to any doctor and companion. Unlike some other campy episodical additions to the literary cannon of The Doctor, this deserves development to the parent medium and the introduction of the new race and villain to the television cannon.
It is thoroughly enjoyable with out any damage to any Whovian logic. Why is it a 4 star not a five? I think on certain sets of dialog, the actors would have chosen different attenuation and performance. No real fault of the narrator. He did fantastic. It had some comical moments but if filmed, once again, the script would have been tweaked to add in that comical banter a little more fluidly. Plus the actual interaction from separate actors would have added the flare need ed to make this a memorable episode.
Trevor Baxendale deserves a seat at the writing table of BBC. TB has written other Doctor Who novels that deserve exploration. Read/listen to this book.

Film this.

I really enjoyed this book I recommend it to any Doctor Who fan. I felt like I was watching the TV show. The narrator did a fantastic job and I would listen to any of his books in the future. Thanks for a great book

At first, I was annoyed at the voice of the Doctor., but after a short time, I forgot it was not Peter Capaldi! Then, I was immersed in the quality Doctor Who story. Complex and nuanced., it is worthy of a BBC episode.

Give it a couple of chapters

I loved this book. The narrator did an amazing job imitating voices. His impersonation of the Doctor was terrific. It felt and sounded just like an episode of Doctor Who. I'll be buying the audio in the future.
