About this listen

A music student takes a hilarious time-travelling romp through 200 years of history to meet Mozart and find out why he wrote a lot a lot of smutty letters. On the way he wreaks havoc in the lives of everyone from Queen Victoria to Beethoven, which he has to fix on the way back.
Achille Brown, 22-year-old music PhD student, is struggling with the subject of his thesis: the thorniest and most sensitive aspect of Mozartian scholarship - his scatological humour. Always obsessed with the composer, as a child he used to tell people his ambition was to meet Mozart. He realises he is exactly six degrees of separation away from his musical hero: his grandfather - a Princess and granddaughter of Queen Victoria with whom his grandfather is rumoured to have had an affair - Queen Victoria - Franz Liszt - Beethoven - Mozart. Combining this with a rather unusual gift he has of being able to inhabit other people's bodies and time-travel through their lives, he sees a way of achieving his ambition. After some interesting preliminary experiments, revealing that everyone seems to be obsessed with sex, and that a female fellow-student called Juliet likes him, he is ready to begin his bizarre and complex journey back to 18th century Vienna.
