About this listen

A lost memory. A shocking discovery. A gruesome truth.

After years of amnesia, Vincent suddenly recalls the murder of a young woman. The murderer was caught and convicted...but Vincent’s jumbled memory reveals a real and startling possibility: Vincent himself is the killer. But another connected murder occurs, ruling out Vincent as the culprit...or does it?

As the police begin to suspect Vincent, he begins an investigation of his own. As he pulls together the puzzle pieces of his shattered past, the picture that forms threatens Vincent and everyone close to him.

In this German best-seller available for the first time in English, Chris Karlden delivers an exciting and intense psychological thriller.

The book was intriguing and challenged me to keep track of what I believed was really happening. I had doubts the main character was a reliable narrator, and so I was always trying to sort through what was happening. This kept the story very interesting and I looked forward to my listening sessions.

The narration added to the story and the suspense of the main character, and I clearly got the feeling this was a person struggling to figure out a complex situation while living it. The other characters were done well so I didn't get confused regarding who was speaking, but were subtle enough to not be distracting.

Overall, I recommend this book.

Kept me guessing and unsure of what was true

Disclaimer: This audiobook was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review. A very fun mystery book. I loved how different perspectives were given on the same case, fueled by the sense of not being able to trust the characters. Has a lovely conclusion as well, and the story is overall nicely written for a fictional psychological thriller. Vic Case did a nice job of narrating and portraying the emotional struggles of the main character, but I found his female characters to be a little lacking in comparison. They seem to all be very calm and collected, the weary characters sounding a little too chirpy as compared to the male counterparts.

An interesting mystery case
