About this listen

A Drake warrior brooding in the Dark

A woman whose unique powers are just coming to Light

Can they survive the dangers of a hostile planet together?

Find out in…

Dragon in the Dark

*This is a Plus length novel—115,000 words long*

Dr. Iyanna Washington has landed her dream job—as a botanist aboard the Monstrum Mother Ship she will be able to study as many fascinating alien plants as she could ever dream of. But she’s been warned to stay on the Light Side of the ship during her studies. The Dark Side hides Monstrum so big and powerful they would frighten any humans who happened to see them.

Dra’vik happens to be one of those that humans must not see. As a Drake Monstrum, he is nine feet tall with horns and scales—naturally he thinks humans would fear him. But when Iyanna gets lost on the Dark Side of the ship, he finds himself drawn to the curvy little Elite with the creamy brown skin. She’s both beautiful and brave and she doesn’t fear his immense size or “devilish” appearance.

When the two of them are sent on a secret mission where they must pretend to be Master and pleasure slave, they find themselves drawn even closer together. But danger is in the air. Iyanna has proven to have special abilities and unique talents that are priceless to someone who would be happy to steal her away from the big Drake. And even if Dra’vik manages to save her, there are other obstacles standing in the way of their happiness—specifically the fact that bonding with a Monstrum Drake causes instant pregnancy.

Can Dra’vik save Iyanna from the danger that threatens her life?

And will Iyanna be willing to bond with the big Drake, despite the unique consequences?

You’ll have to listen to Dragon in the Dark to find out.

Author's Note: the heroine gets into some pretty scary situations in this book which may make you uncomfortable if you are a survivor of assault. Anyone who has gone through my books knows that it all works out in the end, but I wanted to warn you just in case. Please listen responsibly!

Fun story

I liked this book and loved hating the world they went to. (not sure how it's spelled) I admit that many scenes that happened on their mission were not fun to listen to and I skipped some of them. I liked Iyanna's magical green thumb and Dra'vik's fierce abilities. Both characters were likeable (even though Dra'vik could be abrasive). I like that the Goddess still makes her presence known and that although she's a kind and loving Mother that she also shows her displeasure with stubborn males.

The one issue I had with the interaction between the two leads was that Dra'vik called Iyanna "little girl". To me it just makes it sound like the male is sexually handling a child. I hope future stories do not use little girl as an endearment.

Narration was good. Each character has their own voice and personality. I prefer to listen at 1.40x to make the speech pace more natural, but that's just a personal preference. Happy listening!

Dragon in the Dark

This story was slightly different from all the others in this series, but still had predicable moments; almost too predicable.

Dra’vik is a very intriguing hero but having him call her 'little girl' got to be too much. By the time I was on chapter 30, my eye twitched every time he called her that. I get that she's MUCH smaller than him (hard not to be when he's over nine feet tall) but maybe call her 'little one' instead?

Loved the MMC.. love the Monstrom

As always , when I need a lighter / brighter kinda book a HEA here is where I come to escape.. The FMC is so smart and has a special gift that got her exotic plant botanical degree… but yet she lies and to herself.. she tries things and then doubts the facts.. the MMC ❤️ has a self-esteem problem due to the fact he could lose himself so scary that no one could love him, especially a human female… Well they go through issues and problems, especially with misogynistic egotistical males… I will plan where females have no rights at all, only to exist for men for their play things… Needless to say our MMC gives us all and I do mean all

Love the Kindred’s

I loved the book, except Iyanna got on my nerves at times with the waffling; seemed out of character for most sister’s. I loved Dra’vik, especially when he goes into beast mode. Now it’s time to go through withdrawals again until the next book is released. Mackenzie did a fantastic job as usual with characters. Now the wait begins.

Dragon Hybrid Alien- yes, please!

This one is so spicy, the plants even get involved. When a Botanist PH.D meets a Monstrum Dragon Doctor, some chemistry is gonna happen!! What can I say?! Ironically, with all the sexy time happening around this couple (Being on a planet that is very patriarchy to the extreme), this couple actually has minimal engagement until almost the very end of the book. Trigger warnings for anyone who has gone through an abusive relationship as the planet they have to go to retrieve a rare flower is male dominate who treat their women as playthings, totally opposite of the Kindred views on holding their women as being sacred and to be protected. If you are familiar with Evangeline Anderson's book, you know her Kindred characters typically use some kind of pet name for their females. This one could be a bit cringy for some as his pet name was "little girl" since she was so tiny compared to him. I think "little one" or even "baby girl" would have been better as the pet name instead of "little girl" Mackenzie continues to narrate this series beautifully.
