About this listen
What doesn’t kill you isn’t trying hard enough.
Connor has vanquished The Bad Princess and taken control of Cristallur. But what of the rest of Devon? What of the other four continents? If he stands still, he will surely fall.
Edward must plot his next move, but is someone or something anticipating his every choice? Will a sudden compulsion prove all their undoing?
Ellen is stuck. How can she travel her Civilization Trail if the lands of Devon inhibit her progress?
Yosaku has a challenge she mustn’t forget. What lies behind the doors that line the Tower of Tricolor, and what are the sisters up to?
Gilbane Gilbane is stuck defending the North. Is he marginalized? Is he vulnerable? When he bumps into a stranger and befriends him, will that chance meeting test his loyalty to Connor?
Dave is Dave, and he is getting stranger. Worryingly so.
Have we seen the last of Altradees?

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Story
Compiled by intrepid journalist Neve Pride, this archive of recordings spans the months after dragons emerged on earth, chronicling the communities that sprang up amid the destruction, the scientists, military leaders, and experts searching for a defense, and those steadfastly seeking the missing. Neve and her young daughter Bex travel among the wreckage speaking to those left behind and surviving, against all odds. Neve records everything for history, and in the hopes of locating a clue as to where the dragons came from and how one might stop them.

For some it’s an opportunity. For others it’s a moment to question their faith: In God, in science, in everything. Still others try to keep the world running in the face of absurdity and uncertainty. And then there are the billions looking to the sky and wondering how a thing that was always just there is now... something absolutely impossible.

Great but a little aggravating.
Love the story, the setting, the world building! However, the storytelling seems to lean a little to the feminist side at times, which many authors seem to tend toward nowadays, so I can understand that. But there are some things that make no sense. For instance, the main character has this amazing armor, forged with superheated dragon steel, but it doesn't even block some wasp stingers, totally ridiculous! Maybe he just didn't wear it sometimes? But what good is having armor that provides 600% bonus to army statistics, but can't block an insect stinger.
Things like this happened in previous books, I guess if the male character is too OP, then the female characters don't get their chance to shine or step in to the rescue. Even if it sounds like I am anti woman power, I am not. I think it could be argued that Connor is there because he was good at video games, but the real fighters are Xante and Yosaku, and a few others. Also, don't forget, Ellen has all the brains, while Dave is a simpleton who is good at swinging his hips and that's about it. The point is, that if the author wants to lean on the women dominating, do it with something more believable or just let the reader know that the armor is great one way but for actual protection it's no better than paper.
The audio performance is great!
Overall 4.5, I would definitely recommend as it has a great storyline!

Fantastic
Sadly for the life of me I can't remember who's backstory said they were from Katafrey. Other than being pissed off I can't find any information on the book or the series online, this has been a fantastic entry in the series. I enjoyed the first book the most, but I would rank this one second.
Now to start listening to book one again until I find the one(s) from Katafrey.

Some info for the end
The e-book version states the next book is on its way so the clif hanger should not last too long.
Also if you need to understand the last part of the book look up the beginning of book one when they are heading down the river to found Dragon mist keep

I assume the author just painted their house
Honestly, I have never in my life heard the word mauve so often. If there is ever a chance to describe a color, it’s mauve. Just say pale purple or some other color, not everything is mauve.
It’s likely I wouldn’t have noticed if this wasn’t an audiobook but the author needs a thesaurus. Words should not be repeated so often that it’s jarring i.e. incandescent/mauve/true love.
On the subject of true love…. Why does everyone need to say “for their one true love” ALL THE TIME. Why are nearly all the characters love struck puppies? I thought Soril was cute with it since that was like a meme with a stoic blacksmith being whipped, but Connor, Edward, even dave all using lines like a 14 year old girls fanfic took me out of it. “For my one true love” “do anything for his one true love” “his one true love” over and over.

Strongest Book Yet In The Series
The plot really thickens in book four of Warlords of The Circle Sea. I found it far more riveting than books two and three and I can't wait to dive into the fifth.

This series just keeps getting better. I can’t wait for the next installment. For me, the best reads are unpredictable. This is that in spades.
