About this listen

Wedding planner Kelsey McKenna just booked a dream gig as the day-of coordinator at the beautiful Higgens Estate in California wine country. There's only one problem: the wedding was originally planned by Babs Norton, the self-proclaimed Queen of Wine Country Weddings, whom the father of the bride has fired. Intending to clear the air with Babs and make sure there are no hard feelings, Kelsey discovers Babs dead on the floor of his office. David, Babs' assistant, publicly accuses Kelsey, before sabotaging her new clients' wedding by canceling all the vendor contracts. With the help of her friend Brody and assistant Laurel, Kelsey must scramble to salvage the wedding while dodging gossipy wedding planners, grumpy winemakers, and a cold-blooded killer in this smart, funny cozy mystery.

Dying of laughter

I love this author. Her other book “terror in Taffeta” was bit funnier because of the characters and the plot but this one was a good read as well. What I love most about this author is that every time I read one of her books I can totally picture the characters in my head and create the setting and scenarios vividly in my mind.

Kelsey’s name, once again was involved in a murder, only this time she was an actual suspect for almost the entirety of the book. Her curiosity of the crime and determination to get her name cleared, was what kept on getting her in trouble!

Her assistant is a true partner in crime, and her best friend is a good wing man. Everyone else played their role just fine. You’ll be surprised to learn who the killer was.

Not as good as the first

I read the first book in this series and really enjoyed it. I found the characters and their action believable and the plot was well paced and interesting. I can't say that about this book. It seemed formulaic and boring. There was too much time in the lead characters head, the character of Stefan was annoying and flat and the plot didn't hold my interest. I found myself skipping ahead to try and find redeeming qualities in the book. I also didn't like the narrator. I finally skipped to the end to find out the killer and bring closure to the listening experience. I can't recommend this book and I'm not going to buy the next one.
