About this listen

A world without laughter is no laughing matter.

On Planet Stone the Fat Professors have banned laughter. But during one of Professor Walton Flowers’ pompous sermons, Elvis, the rebel genius, and brightest star of the Stone Academy, gets the biggest laugh ever when he accidentally breaks wind.

Exiled to Earth, Elvis contrives to take Flowers with him. But in no time the Professor is implementing his evil philosophy. Elvis sets up secret Laughter Dens to keep the gift alive, and save Earth from becoming as humourless as Stone.

Then one day a message arrives. Theodore Dee, a Fat Professor even more terrible than Walton Flowers is destroying Stone. Can Elvis find a way to get back home in time to save his family, his friends, and all he loves?

Here's what readers are saying about ELVIS:

'My 12 yr old grandson laughed his head off as we read it together taking turns reading passages with him laughing besides me.'
'This is an enjoyable read that had me laughing out loud at some parts! It is a quick but entertaining read and I would recommend it.'
'Read this with my 8 year old son. I have to say we both really enjoyed it.'
'This is the first in a new series of books by this author, aimed at age eight years upwards. The story is set around breaking wind, farting and trying not to laugh, so I am sure it will make for hilarious reading for this age group. Set on the planet Stone laughter has been banned but as the sounds of laughter die around Stone Academy amongst its pupils one young man has to let one zip!'
'This novel for young adults made me laugh a fair few times. It’s set initially on another planet, and Elvis and one of his professors end up on Earth for a while. It’s full of the kind of things that young people that age would recognise, including some ‘bodily-functions’ humour. I’ve evidently not outgrown that!'
'Clever writing and even cleverer humour will appeal to many and hopefully start a following for Elvis and planet Stone!'
