Lo que nos desvela el Dharma es que aun deseando ser felices, no creamos las causas para serlo; y a pesar de aborrecer el malestar, tampoco evitamos las causas que lo producen.
Practicamos el Dharma para transformar los estados mentales negativos en positivos. Para empezar nuestro recorrido espiritual es necesario, en primer lugar, identificar lo negativo para poder abandonarlo, y reconocer lo positivo para incorporarlo a la vida y a la práctica.
Sobre la base de trabajar con las cualidades positivas de la mente, surgen toda clase de experiencias placenteras. Pero esto es algo que no va a ocurrir por arte de magia, es imprescindible escuchar, contemplar y meditar en los Tres aspectos del camino a la Iluminación, de Lama Tsongkhapa.
