Publisher's summary

From the award-winning author of Storm at Keizer Manor.

Emma's life changes the day Ruben Templeton walks in and asks her out on a date. Over dinner, Ruben's undivided attention flatters her, and she's a little disappointed when his best friend, Jesse Kimball, joins them. Jesse is a senator's son who just announced his candidacy for mayor.

Accustomed to a quiet life, insecure 27-year-old Emma is hesitant but excited when Jesse calls the next day to invite her to his birthday party. It doesn't take long for Jesse to sweep her off her feet, and when Emma receives devastating news, he asks her to marry him.

From the moment she agrees, their relationship starts to deteriorate. Hurt and confused, Emma turns to Ruben for advice. Ruben suggests the young couple to give each other space. Time Emma can use to help him locate his younger brother Axel, who has gone missing. Emma agrees, and soon finds herself on a road trip across the country.

Will Emma and Jesse's temporary separation clear the distance between them, or will she find love in the arms of another man?

Soared in Storyline

Enjoyable read with romantic and trilling characters a story of letting the past behind and making new memories. The storyline details the adventures of the characters. Very well written and I highly recommend this book. I will definitely look for a sequel.

I really enjoyed it

The story was not what I expected at all, but I enjoyed it. A bit of a mystery with romance mixed in.
Loved that she went on her trip and became stronger and stood up for herself.
I did not see that twist coming.

A little bit of everything

With a little bit of sadness, and a little fear this book has it all... The plain girl and sophisticated man, some mystery, adventure, romance, plot twists, and true love!
The excellent narration keeps this story flowing smoothly!

The best part for me is that the author does an excellent job portraying modern love and still keeping it “clean”.

Just ok for me

I wanted to love this book more than I did. I like the premise but the execution just didn’t win me over. As the reader when I finished I couldn’t figure out why the first half of the book stretched on so long. I feel like the author could have made that part a lot shorter. Then when Emma does find love I didn’t feel like I was given enough of the couple.

Eagles In Flight

Emma starts out in this story as a mild person, you could describe as mousy. But before the story ends you find out just how much heart she has!

Jesse I got an early read on but thought he was a nice guy. I don’t know how Emma finds it in her heart to forgive him. And Eagle what a kind tortured soul.

Emma’s road trip was almost like it’s own separate story. It was a beautiful journey of self discovery for such an innocent young woman.

The narration is very nice and enjoyable. The book is easy to get lost in and the narration made that come to life.

I couldn't put it down!

Start to finish this book took me on a ride. So many twists and turn on Emma's journey to realize who she was and who she didn't have to be. I found her to be a truly strong person who is also a people pleaser. What she goes through would take some others down. She simply kept getting up and moving forward.
I listened to the audiobook version of this book and found Belinda Lams to be an excellent story teller. I truly believed her to be each character she portrayed.
All in all, an excellent book.

Great book. Great narration

Another fantastic book by Ramcy Diek! I enjoyed the twists and turns and the main character developing the strength she didn’t know she had. It was a masterfully woven story blending multiple genres.

The narrator did a really good job, especially with creating distinct voices for the different characters. There were a couple of places that felt stiff, and that could be a me thing.

I look forward to more books by this author!!

An imaginative and fun adventure

Romance, deception, a cross country adventure, a little unique super sleuthing, a foray into the off-the-grid wilderness with a significant appearance by a handsome hairy wildman - all the plot directions were designed to trigger visualizations and creative imagination. There was a twist I did not see coming which added spice. HEAs for all characters by the end soothed my ragged book soul after a few dystopian tragedies. This tale is all heart, with themes of forgiveness, transformation, and redemption. Light and inspirational.

This story is brimming with engaging characters (good and nasty, selfless and selfish, genuine and shonky - something for everyone). The character development is very fun. It is so easy to warm to an ugly duckling transformation, There is a strong fairy tale vibe throughout which I loved but would have liked the ending to be just a little bit less neat and more grounded. But I am being picky. I can't finish without mentioning the flawless narration pace created by Belinda Lams' who adapted her style to the MC so nicely. I was swept along with the narration from the beginning and stayed up late to finish. This is a quality book experience.

Bittersweet, beautiful love story!

When quiet, shy Emma is lured into the political world of Reuben and Jesse, nothing is as it seems. Jesse professes to live Emma, but his behavior toward her takes a dark, hostile turn. Reuben talks Emma into going on a long-term trip to find his estranged brother Axel.

Emma takes the chance to escape, find herself, and locate Axel. What she doesn’t expect is to find a good but hurt man who needs healing as much as she does.

This book is smoothly written, with excellent narration. I really enjoyed this book, and highly recommend for anyone looking for a sweet love story that surprises at every turn.
