About this listen
A Dying Earth. A New World. A Fight for Survival.
Earth is collapsing—its air poisoned, its lands scorched, its oceans rising. With extinction looming, humanity’s last hope lies light-years away on an uncharted alien planet. Thousands of desperate colonists take the leap into the unknown, risking everything for a second chance.
But survival won’t come easy.
Captain Brian “Finn” Finnegan leads the expedition, only to find a world as ruthless as the one they left behind. Savage predators, treacherous terrain, and a planet that seems determined to expel its new inhabitants. But something even deadlier waits in the shadows—something watching, something hunting.
With the fate of humanity on his shoulders, Finn must push past the limits of his training and forge alliances in the most unlikely places. Because in this new world, survival isn’t guaranteed—it must be earned.
With nowhere left to run, the only option is to fight.
Relatable characters, action, adventure, and a touch of mystery all come together to bring an exciting and diverse story that will leave you wanting more.

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Story
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he’s alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. What truths lie in the black void between the stars? It’s late September 2019 when a young astronomer working at the Haleakala Space Observatory in Maui, Hawaii, accidentally spots a black dot in the night sky and is calculated to be closely trailing Earth by only seventy-five million miles…on the same ecliptic plane. NASA launches an unmanned probe to Earth’s nearest neighbor, given the name ILK-87b. The images coming back from the black planet both shock and amaze those inside the halls of NASA. Curiosity, fear, and dread overcome insiders as infrastructure is detected on the black ...

The Year is 2166: To the people of Earth, the universe seemed to be a very lonely place. Astronomers had discovered tens of thousands of planets and many had indications of organic life. But there was an alien civilization out there, in fact, many of them linked together in a Web of Worlds. They were watching us quietly, carefully and patiently. When There's No More Room in Hell… The Dead Will Walk the Earth. It started small—a strange illness spreading through a New Jersey town after a minor natural disaster. Within hours, people fell sick. By the next day, they were dying. By the third, they were rising. And by the end of the weekend, the world was gone. Garrett Newton thought his biggest challenge would be adjusting to civilian life after a combat injury ended his military career. Instead of starting his new job, he’s running for his life as the dead flood the streets, hunting the living with mindless, relentless hunger. ...

interesting story
Same basic concept. We mess up the Earth. We have to find a new place to live and it has other aliens that has more tech than we do.

Good Story but Not Good Science
This book has a campy but intriguing story. The obstacles the protagonists encounter hold your attention pretty well, but the book failed to satisfy my expectations. As far as I can tell, the military aspect through the book is probably pretty true to form. Though some of the scientific inconsistencies are wrapped up in the plot and resolved by the end, that is not true of them all. It's a bit like reading a book from the 50s where the lack of knowledge leaves you thinking, "well that's a little cute." Only in this case, the author could have known better if he'd spent a little more time researching some of the topics. I hope this isn't too harsh. After all, as long as it remains free, it's a worthy listen. If it were read by an actual person, it might call come off better.
