Mediocre with very poor reader

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No - not much of a plot. I like anything about Paris, but this was surprisingly uninteresting.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Narrator has boring affect and terrible mispronunciation. I thought it was just his French, but his English is not very good either. He mispronounces words that anyone, especially a book reader, should be able to pronounce.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

no

Awful. Somewhere made yr in Europe boring

Writes like an attorney. Wordy and verbose. Uninformed, unprepared and a novice at travel. Huge waste of time and money

Eat, Pray, Love It's Not!!

Would you try another book from Boyd Lemon and/or Don Hoeksema?

No

Has Eat, Walk, Write turned you off from other books in this genre?

No -- it's just turned me off from either of them!

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Don Hoeksema?

Anybody. This man couldn't pronounce a French word correctly if his life depended on it. His articulation was silly and his reading style juvenile. What was the publisher thinking? He also has a very unpleasant ( to me) voice.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Eat, Walk, Write?

I would cut all of the descriptions of what he ate for each meal everyday, the price he paid for it, the drinks he drank with it and every other stupid detail that he endlessly bores us with. That would end in there being no book.

Any additional comments?

There was not a hint of introspection in this book or commentary on what was meaningful about what he was seeing. I kept listening only because I need to hear something while I drive and I kept wondering if it would get any better. I am sorry I spent my credit on this book --usually I love the genre and feel quite let down.
