Very Helpful

This audiobook was exactly what I needed. As a parent who often struggles with losing control, it helped me understand why I react the way I do and gave me practical ways to handle it better. One of the biggest takeaways for me was learning to pause and recognize my triggers before things escalate. I also loved how it focused on maintaining my kids’ self-esteem while still addressing tough moments. It’s not only about anger management, it’s also about building stronger connections with your family. The exercises felt doable, even during a busy day, and the suggestions on self-care really hit home. It’s refreshing to feel like I’m making progress toward becoming a more patient and understanding parent.

There are so many great tools and techniques for managing your anger.

I really enjoyed this book. So many great techniques to use when dealing with our anger as parents. I love the way the author uses analogies, which created mental pictures that help to prove his point, and they also add humor which we all need when we’re dealing with children. I think the one technique, pause, like others, will be a great tool to use, not only for dealing with children but also with dealing with any family member, any situation at work or any difficult situation. I highly recommend this book.

Cooling Down Your Parental Anger

This audiobook helps parents recognize and control their anger when dealing with their children. One of the most unique aspects of this book is that it also provides ways for parents to share those strategies for controlling anger with their children. It suggests ways to model good communication, boundary setting, and conflict resolution.

There are sections for identifying triggers and managing anger when dealing with infants to toddlers, early to middle childhood, and teenagers. (I wish I had this audiobook before my kids were teenagers!)

I'm impressed by the number of techniques and strategies for identifying one's stressors and creating a personal stress management and reduction plan. Another aspect I haven't seen in other books is a plan for creating a family emotional charter in which the entire family identifies family values and commits to living the charter! An excellent resource for any parents.
