Enthralling

A very enthralling book though very different from Pride and Prejudice canon. I did miss Carolyn’s snipe. I couldn’t walk away until the book was finished.

An Austenesque Romance and Spy Thriller!

This is a brilliant variation on Pride and Prejudice set during the French Revolution. It’s both a romance and an espionage thriller. I kept listening to “just one more chapter” because the suspense was killing me.

A Pride and Prejudice/Scarlett Pimpernell crossover.

A brilliant Pride and Prejudice/Scarlett Pimpernell crossover, with an excellent narration and performance by Duncan Galloway, a new-to-me narrator. His Darcy voice is very swoon-worthy. While the two original stories can’t be beat, Elaine Owen does a masterful job of bringing two favourite books together in an un-put-down-able variation and audiobook. I absolutely loved it.

P&P in France

Well this is a new twist on Pride & Prejudice variations. Jane and Elizabeth are living in Paris with their Aunt & Uncle Gardiner (can't you hear Mrs. Bennet saying they will have amuch better chance of catching rich men there). We have some but not all of the traditional P&P characters but it is fun to see them in an entirely new environment. In this story there were several times I wanted to smack Elizabeth! You do have to suspend a little disbelief on how many times, how fast and easy they go back & forth between Paris and England in the midst of the French Revolution. Lots of action and suspense, especially towards the end. I have the ebook and audiobook so I got to listen to the new-to-me narrator. It took me a little to get accustomed to him and his rhythm but he kept getting better as the story progressed. His French was excellent. I do hope that he will consider doing more JAFF stories in the future. On a side note, sometimes his male characters blended in voice but it still worked; he did a very good Darcy! Will I read or listen to again? Yep, especially if I am in a mood for adventure, intrigue and JAFF abroad.
