Publisher's summary

A surprisingly simple plan for ending poverty and making trillions of dollars for ourselves while we do it

Poverty costs our country more than a trillion dollars a year for myriad complex reasons. Ending it would result in joy that is hard to quantify. Yet for all the complexities involved, the “how” of it all–the way to escape national suffering and decline and start off toward a future of organic, resilient national growth–is simple. It’s so simple. To have lives of dignity and purpose and contribute meaningfully to our capitalist economy, America’s poor people do not need the rest of us to feed or shelter them. They don’t need us to derail our lives to take care of them or even think about them all that much.

They need money.

Darryl Finkton, Jr. is a hedge fund manager turned community organizer. Raised in poverty, Darryl went on to graduate from Harvard College and the University of Oxford, where he studied as a Rhodes Scholar. In End Poverty. Make Trillions, Darryl shares how he rose from rags to riches, and how we can ensure everyone has an opportunity to generate wealth.

Great book! Listened in 2 days!

I thought this book was a great read. Darryl does a fantastic job at telling his story and also simplifying what he thinks is missing to a complex problem. With such a big mission of his, you would guess that it is a much more difficult task, but I commend Darryl for expressing himself eloquently and creating a vision for us to lean into.

Very detailed

Good book. Glad others are thinking of solutions to the worlds problems. I’m certain UBI will be implemented soon.

An incredible story of Courage and Compassion!

I found this audio book to be very touching and deeply meaningful. Darryl Finkton Jr. has an important message to share. If you enjoy rags to riches stories about visionaries who want to transform the world, then you will LOVE this book. He is the ultimate scrappy, underdog go-getter. His journey chronicles his awakening as we go from poverty, to Harvard, to Oxford, to Wall Street and then back again. His desire to transform greed both internally and then in society at large is a messege that's desperately needed. I was rooting for him the whole time especially as he takes his poverty bill all the way to the Nation’s capital. Ultimately everything becomes about compassion and the one human family. This true story is worth checking out because this guy might be our next president!!!!!

Brilliant, compassionate, possible

Finkton lays out the case for universal basic income in a manner that if more Americans heard it, I am certain most would find it compelling.

Government intervention hasn’t helped as it could. The restrictions don’t square with human agency. Imagine if people could make choices with their money. Have some to see if they can make more. Aka The American Way!

I hope this is given more consideration now and into the future.

Darryl Finkton is a visionary, We’d all benefit from listening to him.
