About this listen

In the future, freedom is for the modified.

Three centuries after the Genetic War divided humanity, the natural born are slaves. Fated to work in massive subterranean mines, they are expendable. Life is hell. Few escape.

Fugitive Recovery Agent Eli Miller and his partner Leylani Haru will never see the sun, breathe fresh air, or taste salt on the wind. They live for the thrill of tracking down criminals and bringing them to justice.

When a routine case uncovers a mysterious old journal, Eli is puzzled by its claims of being written prior to the catastrophic conflict and by clues pointing to a way of achieving liberty.

Before he can unveil its secrets Eli and his team are sent into the treacherous labyrinth of tunnels to capture the Mayor’s runaway wife and stop a precarious political fallout. Reluctant to go, he realises that it is another opportunity to locate the masked criminal known as—Simon. A man he holds responsible for the death of his niece.

Following the trail, Eli learns that the two cases are linked and there are those that would do anything to silence his team. But in the unforgiving darkness there’s something far worse waiting for him—something which threatens the existence of all natural born.

Don't miss the start of this gripping science fiction thriller from Adrian J. Smith. Set in a gritty, post-apocalyptic dystopia, End Watch will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish!

If you like viewing dark gritty future events grab the book!

What a dark gritty future. That’s exactly what this story depicts. It's the story of Eli and his partner Leilani currently looking for a kidnapping ring and they possibly bite off more than their ready for.
It took me quite awhile to decide whether I liked it. I did mention that it was dark and gritty where illicit drugs flowed like water out of a faucet. But Eli and Leilani along with his dog Knox, held true to their goal to stop the kidnappers.
Ohhhh and Adrian J Smith is worth listening to.

Here's a quote that amused me:

"This is music? More like sound in shape of a fart."

With intriguing characters and more twists than a pretzel, End Watch is a thrill ride full of adventure, humor, and all of the end of the world action you can handle! The narration is performed well too! If you like original and creative storylines then this book is for you. I’ll definitely be continuing this series!

Dark but exciting vision of a possible future

of course, this is not the first time natural born versus genetically engineered humans have squared off against each other and the story, however, I like this version where the genetically engineered superhumans realize that they need the naturally born humans.
The world building is rich and complex, with the typical hierarchical structures that humans seem to build into every society that they create, of course the author puts its own spin on these. His references to past music and entertainment choices were amusing, And it makes me wonder what kind of playlists live on his phone.

The narration was expertly done, and as usual Paul does a wonderful job of breathing life into the characters. Well worth a listen looking forward to the next installment!
