About this listen

A lump of concrete dropped deliberately from a little stone bridge kills the wrong person. The young woman in the car behind is spared. But only for a while... A few weeks later, George Marshalson lives every father's worst nightmare: he discovers the murdered body of his eighteen-year-old daughter on the side of the road. Wexford steps into the case but soon a second teenage girl is murdered - a victim unquestionably linked to the first - and another family is shattered...

The twists & turns, res herrings & blind alleys make this one of Ruth Rendell’s most gripping stories.
With a very believable cast of characters the reader is guided through the complex story of love, hate, desperation & many other emotions to a chilling climax.
As always with Ruth Rendell there are other stories & issues running alongside the main plot. These enhance the overall story for the reader.
An excellent story superbly read, the narrator sounded more like George Baker as Wexford then George Baker himself !
