About this listen

In May of 1890, Enola Holmes is finally fully on her own and, no longer hiding from her older brothers Sherlock and Mycroft, attending classes and occasionally pursuing her chosen profession as a scientific perditorian, a finder of lost things and people.

Wolcott Balestier, the representative of an American book publisher, arrived in London on a singular mission—to contract with English authors for their latest works. When Balestier disappears on the streets of London one day, his great friend - Rudyard Kipling—bursts into Enola's office looking for help in finding him. Brash and unwilling to hire a young woman, instead he turns to Sherlock Holmes. Convinced that evil has befallen Balestier, at the hands of rival American publishers who pirate the works of English authors, he sets the elder Holmes on the trail.

But Enola is not one to accept defeat, especially not to her brother, and sets off on her own—determined to learn the truth behind the disappearance of the young American. Can book publishing truly be so ruthless and deadly or can the missing man be rescued from his apparent fate and returned to his friends and loved ones?

The redoubtable Enola is determined to do just that, even if it means working with her brother Sherlock!

I love this book series

I’m in 8th grade and love these books I love them because they are not romance based and they have a great main character she is brilliant but still makes mistakes l loved having male relationships that were not gay and the only thing I miss is lady Alastair I think it gets grittier as it goes on maybe 11+but that shows caterer growth I think the first six books have a much different cadence then the later books eating for the next book S

Truly excellent

Wonderful to see Enola evolving, learning and GROWING (which is what's missing in many other long-running female-detective series, Rhys Bowen I'm looking at you.) Also splendid to see the development of female friendships, and her increasing collaborations with Sherlock.

Regarding narration, Tamaryn Payne does a remarkable job considering who she had to follow (the late, great Katherine Kellgren). I'd love to see her improve her range of British (Scottish, Irish, etc) accents, but that's just me.

Great new Enola story.

Very descriptive and entertaining as usual. Interesting facts about rabies treatment in those early days.

Love the Enola Holmes Series

The Enola Holmes book series is very enjoyable. I prefer the books to the Netflix series because as with most books turned into film, much must be left out. I enjoy the audiobooks because I can listen as I work. I also enjoy the narration. It makes me feel as if I am in the room or on the streets of London with Enola. I also know there will be a happy ending, so it’s enjoyable light reading.
