About this listen

There are no visions of sugarplums dancing.

Charlotte used to dream of love. Now she only dreams of freedom and the boy she is convinced would never betray or abandon her. They lie. They all lie.

Or do they?

Within the white walls of Diamond Towers, Charlotte sees the post-apocalyptic realm known as the Heights in a new light. But she soon learns that underneath the gleam and sparkle of the city, a different sort of evil breathes. Sometimes hearing the truth only makes things worse.

Crawl into the entangled fairy tale where in the shadows and secrets of unimaginable powers and disastrous dangers are whispered.

Excellent!

"Spoilers"

I listened to the audible book and the narrator(s) did a fantastic job! Now, I haven't listened to to 3rd book yet but the 1st 2 books were outstanding and I would read again and again. This had adventure, romance and many hilarious moments. I swear the way those two interact with each other just blows my mind. lol. So much chemistry with enough hotness to melt your insides too! When they finally catch up with each other, after Charlotte and Star escape I just KNEW who Star was going to be to Dash and it worried me the Weils was going to make this into a love triangle but it really didn't go that direction. It led you to believe that maybe he still had feelings for Star but there was hardly no interaction between them. He was all about his "freckles" although a bit awkward at times. Couldn't stand her dad and sister but at the end it looked like her sister was going to have a change of heart and not be the bitch she had been. They finally had the intimate moment but not as descriptive as a adult book. It skipped the juicy parts but man, it didn't need it because Weils does a terrific job in the foreplay up to it! Great series so far!!

Narration Changes the Story

Loved the story but the narration detracts from the story. Charlotte sounds like a spoiled brat and Dash's lines sound like a drunk Santa Claus, not the handsome prince he's supposed to be.

lived the series and the narrator

series was great, the main characters were well written, especially the heroine, I liked that she was a bad a** and learned to use her gifts and wasn't a whiny brat like female heroines are usually written. the narrator was awesome too.

Wild new reality

Charlotte wins the crappy parents lottery if there is one. I loved learning how the Institute really is from the inside. Dad did say some about it previously, but the reality is worse in my opinion. Seeing people willingly stay somewhere horrible is worse than them being forcefully kept there. I really enjoyed getting to see more of this new world that Dash and Charlotte find themselves in. I can't wait to find out more about these two and what's really wrong in the word. Caitlin and Gary did great with the narration and I hope that in the next book we get to hear more from Gary.

Action packed

The story picks up right where the first left off. The story is fast paced and has lots of action. I love the banter between Dash and Charlotte. Can’t wait to listen to the third book.

❤️❤️❤️ A BEAUTIFUL LOVE STORY FOR ALL AGES.

*SWOONING* ❤️ I just completed the second book from this hauntingly beautiful series, and will definitely be waiting, in anticipation, for the third book to be released via Audible.com.

BTW. Dash has officially been added to,
"My Personal List of The Perfect Soulmate."

If dreams would only come true... 😇

A Pretty Good Sequel

Charlotte actually did not annoy me as much in this book as she did in the first one. Maybe it’s because her character kind of grew after being on the run for so long. She actually had to care for somebody other than herself, and that took away her pettiness and selfishness.

The love triangle was a complete shock, but I loved how friendship won out in the end.

I found myself caring for many of the characters in this book, even the annoying ones. They all are just trying to survive in the world that is different than what they were used to before the mist.

The one thing I always find funny is how many of these young adult novels have characters who are 17 and are trying to save the world. I live with a 17-year-old and all he does is eat and play video games. Maybe they’re just more mature because they are otherworldly. 😂

cringy

I really wanted to love this book, but I just couldn't get past the overly obsessed moments. it has a cool fantasy story that she could have done a lot with. the love story was just too much. there was no real connection or getting to know eachother to me. it was like they just overly wanted in eachothers pants. I mean they would be in a deadly situation and be thinking about how they wanna kiss eachother. it was just hard to get through all those moments. ALSO the main character is so hard to like.
