Das Schloss mit seinen Unterkastellanen, Kastellanen, Dienern, Beamten und Boten bleibt ein für jedermann ein willkürlich agierendes, undurchdringliches bürokratisches Dickicht, in dem nicht nur K. und seine Liebe zu Frieda, sondern auch alle Dorfbewohner zu ersticken drohen. Während die irrwitzige zwingende innere Logik der Figuren ein präzises und sehr vertrautes Abbild unseres Alltags spiegelt - und damit unentwegt verblüfft.
