Better and Better

These books keep getting better and better. Just when I think the character are safe, Elrich spins the story on its head and shows it definitely isn't. Looking forward to the next one. It can't come too fast!

Engaging performance

Entertaining characters, plot moves slowly.
Grace Woods' engaging and well articulated narration made for an enjoyable listen. I especially appreciated how she voiced the different characters.

Clean Fantasy with Christian Allegory Spin

Parents- PG - 5th grade and up
Language- None
Violence- PG - normal to genre - nothing too graphic
Sexual Content- nothing to warn of, just snuggles and kissing variety

This review is going to mimic my review from book one. This book picks up where the other one left off, and I would definitely recommend reading them in order -- they aren't stand alone reads. Again, I really enjoyed this storyline, and I do feel that this is a tastefully fantasy with Christian spin to it. Melchizadek is a strong character that is the representative of the Savior and the evil represented in a few characters one group being the Skazic and the possession of another character by a demon like spirit. Etania and her allies are still very much engaged in a battle between good and evil in such an engaging way, with plenty of action to keep the story moving quickly and making it hard to find a stopping place. There are many hard lessons about trust, love, following God's plan for us as well as both repentance and forgiveness. It's all presented in a fun fantasy realm with dragons, relatable character, and magic/numa. It's a fantastic read for older elementary (5th grade) on up through high school. I love the uplifting nature and entertainment level of this series, it teaches positive self worth with and dealing with trials with the help of family, friends and leaning on the Savior's love, the power of prayer and answers received. Our kidos need more books like this one! Highly recommend to those looking for clean fantasy and enjoy Christian novels.

Narrator- 4.5⭐ has a pleasant voice, good differentiations with different accents and voices. The speaking rate was a bit slow but fixed at 1.25x speed.

Worldbuilding and New Characters

I love the worldbuilding in this book. There are so many different races (and I love the dragons and wolves as companions). I wasn't expecting a big side plot that dealt with trust in relationships, but it did play into the story well. Zaden was a great addition to the cast. I love how he wasn't the best guy to be around. And the twist at the end with him is just so AHH! to say the least. I want to grab the next book ASAP.
I also noticed that the narrator in the audible version has grown in skill from the first installment. It's something people don't often talk about, but it was interesting to hear how she has grown from one book to another.

Note: There are drinking scenes, but it is shone in a bad light. There is also one reference to sleeping with someone before marriage, but nothing super graphic is actually talked about. (It is also shone in a bad light as well.)

Also, Bayanna is best girl! I so want to see her relations with a certain someone grow!

Great Christian Fantasy

I enjoyed book 2 even more than the first one in the "Daughters of Tamnarae" duology. In this story, Etania's father returned after being gone for six months. He asked Etania to go with him to capture Jazel, but Etania doesn't tell him that she has lost her powers. Trouble ensued. I liked that the characters had growth in their arcs, and that there was still difficulty in relationships in spite of their faith. I appreciated the religious theme that flowed through the story. Grace Woods' narration was good, and her performance enhanced the story's entertainment. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.
