Please take care of my baby. But don't try to find me. You'll put him in danger. x

Profiler and therapist Kez Lanyon is shocked when she finds a baby on the backseat of her car, with an unsigned note asking her to take care of him.

Kez has a pretty good idea who the mother is - Brandee, a popular social media star with a troubled background, who once lived in Kez's house.

Brandee recently dropped out of the limelight and if the internet rumours are true, Kez knows Brandee's life is in danger.

Kez is torn. Should she simply take care of the baby as she's been asked, or should she risk her whole family by using contacts from her previous job to save this young woman?

Time is running out for Brandee. Can Kez find her before it's too late?

This is the heart-stopping new novel from The Queen Of The Big Reveal.

Captivating

Loved how it was a page turner, but thought the ending was going to give us more. Maybe even a possible part 2. Glad it ended on a happy note though.

The Missing Phrase

This story was written masterfully, in that the author never once said the phrase guaranteed to anger certain people, though the plot is dripping with that particular kind of patriarchal attitudes (I'm challenging myself to also not use the phrase in this review).

Every Smile You Fake is somewhat like Gone Girl, where a fictional recreation of a real-world event is shockingly familiar and over-the-top, but still credible. If you don't recognize a particular character, I envy you your sand pile into which you've buried your head.

This is the fourth Koomson novel I've listened to, but the first I wasn't able to pause for a second. The narration was lovely; both ladies' tones were enjoyable, despite the subject matter. There was one misdirection that I didn't like, but it didn't detract from the story as a whole.

Overall, feminists will appreciate this story and should recommend it to family and loved ones who have fallen into wackadoo conspiracy theories and poisonous propaganda. There was no TERF behavior by any characters, even the antagonist(s). Please read or listen to this book. Edit: Challenge achieved.

ok but not my favorite

The characters were great, but this story was weird. I can't give it bad stars because the writing is good, it's just weird.

Not too much except chaotic story.

This book is so discombobulated, I had to start it half a dozen times. It is well written grammatically but, oh dear lord, that’s about all.
Not worth a listen.
