Yasotay Is a Fascinating Character!
War of Fear: Eye of the Nomad is a riveting look at one of the ancient world’s first special operators. The novel is filled with epic adventures that bring history to life. It applies the lessons of Tzu’s Art of War into a narrative that makes the legends, culture and motivations of Genghis Khan’s most elite Mongols part of an accessible and visceral experience. Veterans will appreciate and identify with the rights of passage featured in the hero’s journey. And all who read will be entertained while learning about a pivotal time in history that is made to feel both exotic and familiar. It is the kind of book you don’t want to put down until its culmination leaves you enriched but hungry for the second installment.

Great Start to the Series
In attempting to write about Yasotay and the Mangoday, the author has a great amount creative license in there is little to no documentation about Yasotay and his special forces... at least, I couldn't find much. Mr. Nardolicci does a great job of laying the groundwork for the the personalities of Timoujin (Genghis Khan) and Yasotay and their future interactions and conquests. I really like the character development and I'm greatly looking forward to the next book in the series.
I will say that I did not much care for the narrator. I did not find him engaging compared to some of my favorite narrators such as Scott Brick and George Guidall who are masters of their craft. For me, the performance was rather monotone and the dialog between characters sometimes just seemed awkward. Also, I did not care for the occasional sound effects such as arrows striking a target or crowd noise. They were inconsistently scattered throughout and sometimes came at odd times. I found them distracting. I would have preferred a better narrator without the sound effects.
Regardless, I will give this title five stars as I really enjoyed the story and character development. At the end, I found myself eagerly looking forward to the next installment. Congrats to Mr. Nardolicci for an excellent first novel! I'm honored to be the first reviewer.

Overview of the start of Mongolian empire with history of Temujin’s involvement.
I would like to have had more of Temujin and less of fighting and massacres.
