Franks Wurst: The food of the future!
Try one today!
Many years have passed since Victor Frankenstein built his monster. The population has grown out of control. The food supply is getting low.
Solution?
Designer children.
Parents surrender their children from birth so that new ones can be made from the best of the parts.
Well, most of them.
Some children grow up Normal. The N-Word. Lower class. Unable to land jobs. Mistakenly killed by cops over and over again.
Franks franchises are popping up like weeds. With only one thing on the menu, hot dogs. The low-cost way to feed billions. And people love them.
But when meat becomes scarce, a new item appears on the menu: Franks Wurst. It's not long before that’s all anyone eats.
One night, Mr. Simonson, the Chairman of Franks, gets a crowbar to the skull.
He knew the secret recipe that not even he was supposed to know.
And the more time marches on, the weirder things get. And nobody’s questioning it.
Except for one: A Normal named Maria Shelton who finds the whole thing disturbing. The world’s addiction to Franks Wurst, the murder, and now Normals are disappearing by the hundreds. She’ll figure out just what the hell is going on. Even if it’s the last thing she does.
And the more she digs, the deeper the conspiracy runs. It just may be the last thing she does.
Oh, Maria, what have you gotten yourself into?
It’s Frankenstein meets Soylent Green. Mary Shelley meets Charlton Heston. A crazy tale that you’d come to expect only from this author.
By the way, he can’t tell you what Franks Wurst is made of, but what he can say is it is not not people.

A bad best man’s speech can ruin a wedding. Why do we plan every detail of a perfect day and then give the groom’s idiot best friend five minutes of total power? Enter Nate (Glen Powell), a speechwriter-for-hire who helps people write incredible best man speeches. To keep the best man from embarrassing himself (and the newlyweds), Nate uses his list of don’ts: Don’t mention the exes, don’t be rated R, and don’t bum everyone out. Nate’s system never fails. That is, until he meets Dan (Nicholas Braun).

Traumatized by the bombing of Dresden at the time he had been imprisoned, Pilgrim drifts through all events and history, sometimes deeply implicated, sometimes a witness. He is surrounded by Vonnegut's usual large cast of continuing characters (notably here the hack science fiction writer Kilgore Trout and the alien Tralfamadorians, who oversee his life and remind him constantly that there is no causation, no order, no motive to existence).

Story
Alice's journey begins as all good journeys do: hitting on the sales guy at REI. After a tumultuous breakup, a quick career transition, family upheaval, and a sobriety journey that didn't fix her life quite as much as she expected it to, Alice decides that the only way to solve all her problems is to hike the Pacific Crest Trail. But as she begins preparing for the months-long quest, she realizes the answers she's seeking might not be on top of a snow-covered mountain. Especially since she just learned there was snow in California.

Lots of parody, not much staying power
This is my first experience with this series so I didn't know what to expect. Turns out: Idiocracy. That's the best way to explain the way characters in this story act. It gets a chuckle early on, but after a while, the whole "I'm not taking myself seriously, look at my calling out my own silliness" gets a bit old.
Add to that, the plot revolved around a mystery that was fairly obvious about halfway in, and that there's no real resolution to any of it, and I can't say that I felt it was a worthwhile listen.
Perhaps that's the way these stories typically go and I just wasn't tuned for it. Either way, this wasn't really for me.
The narrator did a pretty decent job (I was initially worried as his intro and outro contained a LOT of hard T's, which can get annoying, but the actual story was read without them).

A Monty python Mel brooks of literature
It’s ridiculous. It’s outlandish. It’s absurd. It’s totally hilarious. Every letter so far has been a twisted, raucous romp through a world and set of characters that you thought you knew till Marc Richards put his mind to telling you his view of them. Get them. Enjoy them. Escape from your current reality for a few hours and let your kind revel in the ridiculous of it all. I do at every newly released letter. No Hotdogs for me
Don’t eat a hot dog while listening to this funny take on Frankenstein. Enjoyed the character of Maria Shelton a PI and her dog. It is an insane take on how to decrease the number of humans to prevent overcrowding and feed the population. Recommend if you enjoy a sick, sarcastic comedy. F Is for Frank
A strange and humorous story that is downright silly at times. This story gives listeners a different take on Frankenstein. If you wonder about hot dogs now just wait until you listen to this book. This story will give you a chuckle or two as you are taken alongside the main characters and her adventures in finding out the truth about her world. This is a fast-paced listen that will take you into the world of the outrageous. Narrator David S. Dear brings this world to life and keeps the narrative flowing to keep the listener engaged with the story.

Loved it!
I laughed so hard!!! I so do enjoy these silly, don't search for the hidden meaning of life, entertaining as all heck books and this one is right at the top! If only it was so easy to just switch careers and everyone goes along with it lol!! I think i will be a doctor... that sounds like fun, boom, charging hundreds of dollars for me to just listen to what they are saying and tell them they need to lose weight... bam! I'm a millionaire, maybe lol :) Definitely worth a listen/read!!

Humerous

Like with the rest of this series, it is absolutely funny and absurd (in a good way). The narration is good and I really enjoyed the listen. In short, this is a very humerously weird take on Mary Shelly's Frankenstein. If you like stories that turn the originals on their heads, you should check this one out.
