About this listen
Lucifer, introduced in Cursed, the first book of the Fallen Angels series, now goes by Lucian and he has a problem.
A disturbing problem named Anna Sill.
For the past ten years, he's struggled to understand why he has felt compelled to help her. Finally abandoning Anna to her fate, Lucian stubbornly refuses to have anything else to do with the human.
But fate and God are cruel mistresses, and Lucian finds himself face-to-face with Anna once again, though she's not the same girl he once knew.
Hell has many forms, and Lucian--its ruler--is about to discover Hell isn't just a place...it's a state of being.

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

He’s evil incarnate, cloaked in a beautiful disguise. My father uprooted our family, forcing me to relocate to America. If that wasn’t bad enough, he’s making me marry the son of a psychopath. Maxim Volkov. Heir to the Volkov Bratva. I’d rather die than be shackled to a man so evil. A man who has no soul. His piercing blue eyes are as cold as his stony heart. Fallen
I really wish I would have known that this was a series before I read this book. However, I really enjoyed the story. I loved getting to see Lucien as more than just the prince of darkness and that he had more human qualities to him.

Really enjoyed the story
Getting to see a different side of Lucian was very enjoyable. There were a few parts where I didn't like him much at all but I remembered that he was also the Ruler of Hell and we really shouldn't like the things he does. I liked Anna a lot, especially once she found her backbone and would stand up to him.
I normally only listen to the audio version once I have already read a book. In this case, I hadn't, so I did struggle a little bit to keep up. I ended up pausing and reading the actual book before resuming the audio. That is nothing against the author or narrator. Definitely more a me thing than them.
I am looking forward to experiencing more of this series as it progresses.

Great story and narration
I really enjoyed the story and the narrator. He made the story so enjoyable and captivating to listen to. I definitely want to either read or listen to more of the series, especially if I can get more of Anna and Lucian’s story.

superb
The audio version of this is superb! The narrator incorporates several different accents, which I love. The pauses are reasonable, not annoying.
The story is a lot of Lucifer's draw to Anna. He visits her starting in childhood, never understanding why he's drawn to her. He hates humans. This version of Lucifer is very similar to the show Lucifer, a riot to read.
I really loved it. I'm going to have to read the author's other books too.
