About this listen

What is your deepest, darkest fear? What makes you afraid to sleep with the lights off? Several fans were asked this very question and were asked to submit the ideas that most frightened them. These were then turned into stories featuring those fans. From a chilling case of a shadow man called "Preacher Black" and a road rage incident turned into something life threatening on a global scale to a tale of isolation like no other and a story in which every heartbeat could be the last, Fan Fears, the fourth short story collection by Michael Bray, follows in the footsteps of Dark Corners, Forgotten Fears, and Funhouse before it, explores those things that make us most afraid and brings them to life. Also includes four additional bonus stories and a foreword by extreme horror author Matt Shaw.

VERY BAD NARRATOR!! NO NO NO!

Let me continue my title-- "Good stories, but almost returned.. DUE TO ANNOYING NARRATION!"

These are some of the reasons why:

1) narrates in a sing-song style most of the time

2) grating screams when narrating character screams-- yes, I know certain characters do scream in the stories, but, a good narrator does not merely scream like a banshee on a mic, but rather narrates these with more emotion than simply grating screams

3) each story has a "prologue" that briefly explains the story-- but this narrator does NOT pause accordingly to separate the "prologue" from the main story text. It's like:

This story is about the fear of water. (Main story)

but it should be:

This story is about the fear of water. PAUSE HERE!!! (then proceed with main story).

4) emotionless in most parts except for the aforementioned screaming which supposedly stands for emotion.

5) AGAIN, ANNOYING SCREAMING!!

Any additional comments?

Good book, good writer----- but narrator should go!

Good stories, but almost returned..

I really do believe these stories are good. Ive enjoyed the authors work many other times. Its just here, i can not get past this narrator screaming. I agree with the other reviewer. He screams wayyy too much and when youre just trying to relax and listen you have someone screaming in your ear. Not good. Because you can turn the volume down, yes... But then the talking is too quiet.

unfortunate choice of narrator
