Publisher's summary

From award-winning author Sibel Hodge comes a screwball comedy-mystery, combining murder and mayhem with romance and laughter....

Amber Fox has been making too many mistakes, and something's got to give...For starters, Amber accidentally shoots Chief Inspector Janice Skipper and gets thrown off the police force. Oops! Then, she accepts a job as an insurance investigator from her ex-fiancé, Brad Beckett. Only Brad thinks they've still got unfinished business in the romance department, making for a steamier working environment than Amber counted on. And when fashion designer Umberto Fandango goes missing, Amber's investigative skills are put to the ultimate test. Nothing about the case is what it seems, and to make matters worse, Amber's arch-enemy, Chief Inspector Skipper, is also investigating the disappearance. If Amber wants her old job back, she's in a race against time to solve the mystery before Skipper does...all the while dodging her ex-fiancé, her own mixed up feelings, and a couple of crazy mobsters. Who is Umberto Fandango? Is he dead? And can Amber stay one step ahead to stay alive? (Formerly published under the title The Fashion Police.)

Two men, a mystery and revenge.

What made the experience of listening to Fashion, Lies, and Murder the most enjoyable?

The narrator's accent made listening unforgettable along with the ongoing internal dialogue of the hilarious Ms Fox.

What did you like best about this story?

The wacky Ms Fox, yet she manged to get the job done -- and stay alive.

What does Stevie Zimmerman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Her accent and fun way of expressing the characters, especially Ms. Fox. The things she says and thinks, were delivered straight where if she had tried to dramatize them it would not have the same affect.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes.

Any additional comments?

This was a delightful listen. A former police detective having been pushed from the force by an obnoxious detective who wanted her boyfriend and job. She has an unforgettable family, an ex husband she still has the hots for and a hottie boyfriend she also wants. Part of the story was her trying to decide which man she really wanted and the half working the case from her ex's insurance firm's side and dealing with the same case that her cop boyfriend is working. You will understand why she has such a hard time deciding which man and the end choice will surprise you. I heartily recommend this it was a great one.

Funny and charming

What did you love best about Fashion, Lies, and Murder?

The English accent that helped remind me where this was taking place. A few words that are used in England which are different from what we would say.

What other book might you compare Fashion, Lies, and Murder to and why?

Kind of Stephanie Plum light with an English twist.

Which scene was your favorite?

When a weapon discharged and a toe suffered the consequences.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I was kept amused throughout.

Wannabe

The narration was very good for the story. The story ... if you put funnier situations, more relatable emotions, take away the cheating, set it in Jersey instead of the UK, add more mystery and suspense you'd have Stephanie Plum. Go read those instead by Janet Evanovich. They came first and they're infinitely better, this tried and failed to replicate them, even using many of the same endearing things I love about the S.P. series. Examples: bad guys do something to car so she has to drive around an embarrassing replacement, silly sidekick, 2 smoking hot love interests, wacky family, turns to food for comfort - I could go on. And again, none of these done nearly as well.
