About this listen
Many Christians are under the impression that God's grace and his favor are two different things - that while his grace may be a gift, his favor is something we must earn. This misunderstanding has led to destructive teachings about "prosperity" and blessings, and ultimately to lives that feel unfulfilled and inadequate.
Pastor Greg Gilbert puts favor back in its rightful place, as God's gift through Jesus Christ. He shows how the favor that Jesus earned through his perfect life and sacrificial death becomes ours the moment we believe. Knowing we already have God's favor frees us to live joyous lives no matter what our physical or material circumstances.
For anyone who has felt beaten down by the burden of trying to earn God's blessings, this book will provide you with a strong start on a life of confidence in God.

Story
This newest addition to the IX Marks series presents a clear, straightforward statement of the gospel, the third mark of a healthy church. What is the gospel? It seems like a simple question, yet it has been known to incite some heated responses, even in the church. How are we to formulate a clear, biblical understanding of the gospel? Tradition, reason, and experience all leave us ultimately disappointed.

King's Cross is Timothy Keller's revelatory look at the life of Christ as told in the Gospel of Mark. There have been many biographies of Jesus, but few will be as anticipated as this one by Keller, the man Newsweek calls "a C. S. Lewis for the 21st century". In it, Keller shows how the story of Jesus is at once cosmic, historical, and personal, calling each of us to look anew at our relationship with God.

What is my purpose in life? What is a good life? Why is there so much wrong with our world? What can I do to help make it right? These are some of the big questions that everyone must answer. And any lasting change in our lives will start with a change to one or more of our answers to these questions. Jesus changed the life of every person he met in the Gospels, through powerful experiences and words that led them to unexpected and transforming answers to their big questions. These conversations can still address our questions and doubts today.

Story
Your God is too small. We like God small. We prefer a God who is safe, domesticated, who thinks like we think, likes what we like, and whom we can manage, predict, and control. A small God is convenient. Practical. Manageable. The truth: God is big. Bigger than big. Bigger than all the words we use to say big. Ironically, many today seem turned off by the concept of an awesome, terrifyingly great God. We assume that a God you would need to fear is guilty of some kind of fault. For us, thinking of God as so infinitely greater and wiser than we are and who would cause us to tremble in his presence is a leftover relic.

Story
Life is fragile. But hope in Christ lasts forever. We tend to go about our day to day routines imagining this earthly existence of ours will just go on and on. But it won’t. Our stay on earth is really very brief. And when a loved one unexpectedly steps out of this life into eternity, it shakes us to the core. We ask ourselves: Is heaven real? Will I see him–will I see her–again? Will we be together again? How can I know for sure?

Throughout his life, David was gripped by destructive passion, rocked by family chaos and personal tragedy, and motivated by political expediency. Like all of us, David was far from perfect, but Swindoll teaches us that David had the chance to become great when he placed himself at the Lord's disposal.

How would it feel to enter into prayer with confidence and assurance - certain that God heard you and that your prayers would make a difference? It would likely feel amazing and unfamiliar. That's because often our prayers seem to be met with silence or don't appear to change anything. Either response can lead to disappointment or even despair in the face of our ongoing battles and unmet longings - especially when we don't know if we're doing something wrong or if some prayers just don't work.

The faith God calls us to is far more than glowing positivism that shields us from life's struggles. It is one that guides us into a deepening intimacy with the God who sustains us in the broad sweep of life. Best-selling author Gary Thomas helps us sharpen our spiritual vision and fortify our commitment to Christ by examining 10 disciplines God uses to forge a fire-tested faith. A biblical view of these disciplines can safeguard us from disillusionment when - not if - difficulties surface in our lives.

Story
The Son of God was crucified, died and buried, and He lay in the tomb for three days—until He walked out shining like the sun. In a culture in which history is erased or rewritten at will, the existence of an empty tomb matters. Why? Because if the tomb is empty—then anything is possible. Joby Martin dives deep into scripture and traces the story of salvation by highlighting the seven mountains throughout scripture where God manifests himself. As he describes each encounter with God, Martin shows us how the interaction on each mountain laid the groundwork for Christ's sacrifice.

So encouraging
Greg Gilbert has written an incredibly encouraging book about finding rest in our favor with God because of Christ. I reccomend this book for any believer especially those (like me) who struggle to believe that God really does find favor in his children.

Inspiring Audiobook! -- Perfect for Seasoned Christians, & Those New to Faith, & Struggling With Prayer!
wOw!!
Aside from The Holy Bible, FAVOR, by: Pastor Greg Gilbert, is one of the most inspiring Christian audiobooks that I've read, &/or listened to! Whether you're a seasoned Christian, like the author of this book, Pastor Gilbert, or, you're new in the faith; ALL CHRISTIANS CAN, & DO, STRUGGLE WITH PRAYER from time to time! In this book, not only will you learn about how to pray, but, you'll also learn what it truly means to have God's favor!
I consider myself a well-read,self-taught man, with a vast knowledge of topics from real estate & business, to understanding how politics/government & social/cultural societies function. That said, this book taught me what having God's favor ACTUALLY MEANS!! By reading/listening this book, Pastor Gilbert also provides listeners with the fundamentals of Christianity, along with many valuable resources to add to my spiritual toolbox! Some of which, I've already put to the test, & I plan to into my spiritual path to Eternal Life!
This was my first time hearing a title narrated by Lloyd James, & I must say, he did not disappoint! The bottom line, I've listened to many nonfiction audiobooks in my life, but this narrator made it exciting, & was truly blessed by the Holy Spirit!
Happy listening!
